Yoga mats and blocks will help to make a regular yoga practice accessible to our students. Through yoga, children will practice mindful movement coordinating their breath with movement. Yoga teaches students to be present and helps to relieve anxiety and stress. It allows students to be more focused, attentive and improves concentration. Through yoga, children connect with their bodies, breath, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Our hope is that a regular yoga practice will help students to be more available to learn and help them to reach their full potential academically and as present, empathic individuals. Giving each child access to a yoga mat helps them with body awareness and to feel safe in their own personal space. The breath work in yoga helps to connect minds and bodies. Yoga also improves strength and balance. It helps to promote inner peace, self-worth, and confidence. Incorporating a regular yoga practice will benefit our students in many ways - both in school, at home, and in the community.
