  • From PBasic to Cybersecurity....

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to "From PBasic to Cybersecurity! project." Your support will help me continue to teach my students about robotics and coding. I know that they are developing a love for engineering in the future, and I couldn't do it without donors like you.

Thank you again for your support!

    Sincerely,”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

  • Coding Joy: Advanced Coding with CodeBot and FiriaLabs

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you so much. Incorporating technology into my class will motivate students when we return to education and continue this journey with technology and coding. Students seem to gravitate to robotics and coding and thanks to your kindness we will be able to provide an experience to students that is unlike anything most of them would get outside of school. I can't wait to share our photos with you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

This classroom project was brought to life by Infosys Foundation USA and one other donor.
  • Bring The Pi to my Students with Python Lessons

    Funded Dec 17, 2020

Thank you so much for your commitment to the Computer Science Education of our students. This opportunity goes a long way to building a path to their future careers.

Thanks to your generous donations we will be able to provide an experience of coding to students that is unlike anything they have had before.”

  • Allowing Young Makers Make Part 2

    Funded Jun 13, 2019

Thank you for making this opportunity possible. This will give access to my students to the world of making and computer science. We look forward to building a strong world of Makers in Education and to develop a Maker workspace in my Bronx classroom will enhance learning and maker ideals into our STEM program and bring equality and access to an underserved population by giving students the access to making.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

This classroom project was brought to life by Infosys Foundation USA and 2 other donors.
  • Making Electricity Think.......

    Funded Dec 11, 2018

Thank you for your donations that allowed my students have access to coding and programming. Using the Pi-top has helped our robotics team get a better grasp of coding and how circuits work. They are able to create coding and make the connection between physical objects such as lights and resistors and code in real time.

Using the Ardunio with the Snap circuits gave the students real world skills that allowed them to succeed in Physical computing class. In fact, my students brought the Pi top to show at the robotics competition and impressed the Judges so much that they went on to win their first award in the Robotics competition making ti to the Super Qualifiers.

Please know that your contributions have a real impact on the lives of my students every day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

This classroom project was brought to life by Con Edison and 5 other donors.
  • ECS Project

    Funded Aug 15, 2016

Attending the Exploring Computer Science workshops supported the STEAM program in our school. Getting our students to explore the concepts and ideas of computing while exposing them to Web design and Scratch projects is awe inspiring.

Watching students go from expressing responses like 'Not much" to "I love this class " is really encouraging. Making Computer science available to underserved populations is a life changing experience.

Developing the course to bridge the Digital literacy requirements with the excitement of Coding has challenged me as a teacher and educator.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

  • Making History at Maker Education Bootcamp

    Funded Jun 6, 2018

The impact of this Maker Education Boot camp experience is being felt both where I teach and where I live. We had a community makers camp with 17 kids and now we are creating a makers space in the school where my students can make their ideas come to life.

Working with fellow teachers and collaborating with our excellent instructors was one of the most rewarding Professional Development experiences of my career.

Thank you all for your support and vision in caring about the future generations of students who will be impacted by your act of kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

  • Sumo Robots for ECS Wizards

    Funded Jun 22, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation. The Meet Edison robots have created a buzz among my Computer Science students. They are very excited to use the robots and learn about the sensors and digital displays. We plan to program and create Lego sumo wrestlers for the school wide "Build a better sumo" competition.

One of the most exciting aspects is that the toy is like "a real Robot" as one of my students said.

Students now want to stay after class and are building codes at home to try and get the robots moving in class. Parents are also impressed that this donation has their child excited about computer science.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Woods

As a final project this year in Exploring Computer Science class, students will program and build Sumo Robots, while learning coding that will prepare them for designing robots for physical computing. They will use the Edison Brick to learn and develop an understanding of robotics. By getting the $33 Edison brick I can introduce students to coding and robotic principles in a fun and exciting way. Programming Edison is a way of introduction to Python programming language. This Text based programming is easy to learn, and is very popular. The popularity of Python can’t be underestimated. Python is now the most popular introductory teaching language that opens doors for my students.
