This year I am incorporating flexible seating in my classroom opposed to traditional. I'm looking for a more student-centered environment that makes the students feel comfortable and open to learning new content. Research suggests that flexible seating increases student performance, motivation, focus, and effort. In addition to traditional desks, students will have the options to sit in/on bean bag chairs, scoop rocker chairs, stools, carpet squares, or floor pillows. Seating options will allow more space in the classroom for teachers and students to move around. Donations are vital to this project's success. These students deserve to learn in an environment that is fun, comfortable, and engaging.
