Currently, the classroom only has a few uninspiring options for seating during or ELA block. Students are sometimes expected to read independently for 30-40 minutes. If the only comfortable seating (the library rug) is occupied, students are left with either the cold floor or their desk chair. When students are uncomfortable, they do not focus. If they are not focused, they are not reading. If they are not reading, they are not learning. I would love to add new seating options to help make reading more enjoyable for them. It is my intention to make the learning environment to be as fun and inviting as I can. With new seating options like the padded stools and the Go-Anywhere tent chairs, I feel the students will be more comfortable and will even be excited about reading. Sitting on a cold, often dirty floor is not exciting. But, with your help, we can adjust that and give these students something comfortable and relaxing to sit on!
