Ready, Set, Write
Funded Aug 24, 2014We have been busy getting adjusted back to the school year and learning classroom routines and are so thankful to have our wonderful new whiteboards to use.
During Writing Workshop, Interactive Writing, and Word Work periods, we have used the handwriting lined side of our whiteboards to practice sentence structure and tricky word strategies.
During Math Workshop, we have used the blank side of our boards to work on problem solving and classroom routines.
We are so grateful for your generosity and wish you well.”

Mrs. Guidice

Funded Jan 23, 2014Thank you so much for donating to our class and allowing us to have one designated computer for our class. Our students will have access to Math software for our new program as well as access to many wonderful educational websites and online reading programs.
As teaches, it is so important for us to have one computer that we know can not be taken away from us. We spend many hours planning lessons and creating interactive lessons to use with our class and it is such a relief to know we will always be able to access that work.
Our class is so grateful that you took the time to use Donor's Choose and that you chose to donate to our project!”

Routines, Responsibility, and Readiness
Funded Dec 26, 2013Thank you so much for donating to this project! Our students were so excited when the big boxes arrived and couldn't wait to see what was inside.
The first item we opened was for the literature display. We explained that as we finish mentor author readings we would leave the books there so that the students would have easy access to the books to inspire them during independent writing.
The second item we opened was the new mail center. We have already seen a difference in our students gaining independence in packing up and being more organized and responsible either their assignments.
Thank you again for caring about public school students and for donating to our classroom!”

Meeting Our GOALs
Funded Mar 29, 2012Thank you for your generous donation. The soccer balls were a hit with the students. They learned how to dribble, pass, and kick a goal. They learned how to work together as a team. Students who were a bit reluctant at first grew to know and love the sport. We spent over two months learning and playing soccer and we still revisit soccer skills in centers. Other classes in the building have gotten excited about soccer as well and have been borrowing the soccer balls. Your donation gave our students nice new equipment to use and take care of. This equipment will not only benefit the students from this year, but also for years to come. Can't wait to take the sport to the next level when the students return in September.
Thank you again.”

Funded Dec 20, 2010Thank you so much for donating to this project. This year our school has started to conduct Fitness breaks throughout the school day and the materials we have received from this project have made it easier to implement these. Our students love the routines in the exercise videos. Each time we have done them so far, they have gotten better at following the patterns and their stamina seems to be improving. It is important for us to teach our students ways to stay healthy and exercise so that they will be more likely to continue after they leave our classroom.
Thank you again for caring about the students in NYC and especially for choosing our project to donate to.”

Small Group Instruction
Funded Oct 23, 2010Thank you so much for donating to our project. The small group instruction kits have helped our class so much already.
The students in our class love choosing a new story from the box every time we use the kits. They also enjoy the activities that go with each story.
As a teacher, the kits are very helpful. It is an easy way to get materials together for small group instruction. It also allows me to quickly see which reading areas my students need the most help with.
Again, thank you for caring about students and for choosing our project to donate to.”

Getting to Know Our Great City---NYC!
Funded Nov 23, 2010Thank you so much for donating to our project and for helping our students learn more about the great city of NY. Our students love to read nonfiction books and were thrilled when these books recently arrived. In the upcoming months, we have two more months of nonfiction reading and are planning to write our own NYC Subway book, so these new resources will be scoured for information.
It means so much to our class that there are generous people like you that care about them and their education.
Thank you again! Best wishes for a wonderful 2011.”

Practice Makes Perfect
Funded Oct 18, 2010I am writing to once again thank you for donating to our project. It has been a few weeks since we received our materials and have started using them in our class.
This year, we are really stressing the importance of being able to identify story elements in the books our students are reading. The Reading Log books have come in handy for that. They also provide a place for students to journal and record what they are doing throughout the year.
The other book that was part of the project, Correct the Sentence, has greatly impacted our students. It allows for both handwriting and editing practice. We have already seen improvement in our students daily writing habits.
My co-teacher and I are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you again.”

Funded Jan 12, 2010Thank you so much for your generosity in funding our class project. The games this provided to our classroom have already started to make a difference in the way our students are reading and writing. Aside from that, our students are learning essential communication skills and are learning to work cooperatively as they play these phonics games. This project provided us with games for students that are at many different learning levels, so as teachers, we want to say thank you for helping us to easily provide differentiated instruction for our students.
Thank you again. NYC Public Schools are facing severe budget cuts in the coming school year. Generosity from companies and individuals are helping teachers provide both essential and supplemental materials for their classrooms. We hope you continue to support NYC students in the future.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Guidice and Ms. N.”

Read and Write All About It!
Funded Oct 12, 2009How wonderful it is to know that there are people out there that care for the needs of others. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit Donor's Choose and for choosing my class's project. Our new double-sided easel and big book center has already been put to great use.
In these tough economic times, every school and classroom is facing budget cuts and your generosity has helped my class this year and will continue to help my future classes in coming years. Donors like you help classes throughout the country that normally would go without. Your generosity is helping students achieve academic success in many ways.
Thank you again”
