  • New Year, Fresh Supplies!

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation! Over 60 students have been able to successfully participate in all of our math activities. They have used their markers to add color to their work, and make important notes stand out in their notebooks. They have used their dry erase markeres to complete our daily warm ups on their whiteboard. We have been able to print out personalized anchor charts on colorful paper. And they've been able to glue said anchor charts into their notebooks. All of this was possible because of your generosity! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sanchez

  • "One, Two, Three.. Show Me" (Your Board)

    Funded Aug 21, 2020

Thank you so much for your contribution. At the beginning of the school year, I dedicated a few days to go to the building and pass out the materials. The kids were pumped! In fifth grade, we learn how to multiply multi-digit numbers, add-subtract-multiply and divide decimals and we're immersed into fractions. Students have been able to remotely learn and practice all these skills so far. I am able to use the whiteboards when we are skill building and when we are in small groups. There are even times when we do drawing brain break and the students are able to access their whiteboards easily. The headphones have also come in so handy. Students are able to focus on what's going on in class and not so much on what's happening around them at home. This wouldn't be possible without your generosity. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sanchez

"One, two, three.. show me" is my favorite way to hold students accountable for their learning. I teach 5th grade math. As they work through a problem, it's required for them to show their work on a white board. Once the time is up, I give the cue and all students lift their white board. It gives me the opportunity to quickly assess their work, see if students got their answer wrong and where they made their mistake. (It also lets me see if anyone was not doing their work.) We also like to use them in our small group rotations for competitions. First student in the group to raise their board gets a point but if their answer is correct they get TWO points! In a recent meeting with other colleagues, we discussed the challenge of students who may live with other students and might not have their own personal learning space. To try and help the students focus on one thing (instead of other teacher's from younger/older siblings) I am requesting headphones with microphones for students to have their own learning time without distractions. Returning to normalcy is everyone's hope- even though it's far away, having headphones and whiteboards will help make our student's virtual learning experience something they are already accustomed to.
