Reading Standards require something to actually 'read'. Children need to see displayed books that are interesting to them personally. Driven by their own natural curiosity, their decoding and comprehension improve with practice that is disguised in pleasure and satisfaction. Here are two of the many State Standards in Read Literature: RL.1.5 Explain major differences between books that tell stories and books that give information, drawing on a wide reading of a range of text types. RI.2.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
