Making Reading Magnetic
Funded Jan 19, 2024Whooohoooo!!! I cannot thank you enough for funding this project. I know my students will find learning to read "magnetic" with these new letters and boards. These materials will really motivate my students as well as make reading and writing more engaging and fun.
I can hardly wait until I let my students know of our good fortune.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Someone who cares about New York City and 3 other donors. It Can Be All Fun and (Math) Games!
Funded Feb 1, 2022Thank you so very much for all of the great math games!!! We absolutely love them. These games have made review, centers and small group instruction so much more enjoyable for my students. We are able to review and practice math skills and concepts in a fun way. The element of competition has encouraged students to learn their facts and concepts in order to "win".
When these games were introduced to my students, they were beyond excited. They are motivated to not only learn the games, but to learn the skills needed to play the games. They are having so much fun, they don't realize they are learning and practicing math skills. You can feel the enthusiasm and joy when you enter the room.
These games have truly been a game changer for my students (and for me). Center and group time is something we all look forward to. It really is a "win- win" situation.
These games will continue to benefit my future students as well for many years to come. Thank you again for supporting my students and their education.”

This classroom project was brought to life by A New York City Parent and one other donor. We Need White Boards!
Funded Jan 25, 2022I cannot thank you enough for all of my new, shiny whiteboards and fresh markers. My students absolutely love them. These whiteboards have made small group instruction and sharing work so much easier. Being able to watch my students work through math problems with dark markers, on clean whiteboards provides me with valuable information needed to alter teaching as needed. This was especially so when teaching long division. Viewing mistakes as they happened really helped me correct misunderstandings on the spot. The rolling whiteboard has been a game changer when it comes to gliding around the room to provide reteaching and reinforcement. One of my classes actually voted on a name for the rolling whiteboard. The whiteboard is now known as R2D2 with that class.
The best part is watching the joy on my students' faces when the whiteboards come out. They want to use those whiteboards for everything. They especially love choosing their favorite color marker. I especially love that a lesson does not get interrupted because I have to search for a marker that works.
As the school year continues, we will continue to work together toward academic success. Whether it be a math lesson, group ELA assignment, or just simply a needed reteach of a skill, know that your donation has made our learning journey that much easier. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and dedication to education."”

Snacks Needed
Funded Jan 25, 2022I simply cannot thank you enough for your generosity in funding "Snacks Needed". With this variety of snacks, my students' focus can remain on learning. Snack time is no longer a project in itself with the students or myself scrounging for snacks. When it is clear we could all use a little more sustenance, we just head on over to the snack basket and grab a snack. Now students don't miss a beat. This was really clear while working together in groups. Rather than asking each other if they "could get one", their discussion centered on the math task at hand. Snack is now something they eat while they work, not the work.
I wish you could see their faces when I first shared the snacks. I put a variety of snacks in a big basket for them to choose from. Their reaction priceless...a true shock and awe. I heard things like, "Wait, I could pick my own?"..."I can choose any of these?"... "Wow, Ms. Smith got good snacks." They love when that basket comes out.
As the school year continues, we will continue to work together toward academic success. Whether it be a math project, group writing assignment, or just simply a needed reteach of a skill, know that your donation has made our learning journey that much easier. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and dedication to education.”

Funded Mar 29, 2017Thank you for your patience. I did not realize that I never wrote a thank you note. However, the Microsoft Surface Pro has been a blessing to my classroom. My students, over the years, have become very adept in researching on our computer. We have also completed many activities using our Microsoft Surface Pro computer.
Our favorite think to do is to play Kahoots! It is interactive and fast paced. My children share the computer during play.
Once again, I would like to apologize for the amount of time it has taken me to thank you!”

Funded Jun 10, 2015THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Your donation of a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and Microsoft Office software has been an amazing asset this school year. This computer is all that I hoped it would be and more. Its lightweight, compact design makes it easy to carry from classroom to classroom. I am also able to carry the Surface Pro to workshops at various sites.
The Surface Pro 3 and Microsoft Office programs enable me to have student data accessible at all times. With the use of i-Ready data and class test scores, I am able analyze data in order to group students and differentiate instruction in collaboration with classroom teachers. In addition, I am able to generate spreadsheets with student data to share with teachers during grade planning and professional development sessions. These spreadsheets provide valuable information to teachers in planning lessons and group instruction.
I am so excited to use the Surface Pro 3 this year. I know I will be a more efficient Math and Data Specialist this school year and years to come. Thank you again for your very generous donation.”
