When teaching a lesson on ratios, the concept of baking bread came up. We decided to make bread- incorporating math, reading, science, and life skills. With our limited resources, students were able to use these skills to create dough that could be taken home to bake. The activity really bonded the students and great memories were made. I would love to take this to the next level and create more baking experiences in my classroom. We are in need of more kitchen tools and materials. I intend to use these materials in more lessons that can bring math and science into the real world.
