Give Us the Memory- We'll Supply the Imagination
Funded Feb 10, 2010Thank you for your generosity which has placed an invaluable learning tool into my students' hands.
Having the computer in our classroom has allowed my students to find more in-depth information about our areas of study. It has allowed the students to answer questions we do not have the time to answer in class. Thus, the computer allows my students to receive individualized instruction, whether it is my gifted students or my students who may need extra assistance.
In order for my students to be successful in today's job market, they will have to be proficient in the use of technology, specifically computers. It is my job as a teacher to prepare my students so that they will be marketable in today's job market. You have given me the computer I need to do this job.
Textbooks cannot show the same illustrations that a computer can. A computer can show things in three dimensions. The computer has allowed my visual learners to see what they need to know more clearly.
The computer in the classroom has also helped my students keep up with breaking news and become better citizens. It has become a tremendous resource for us. It is an invaluable classroom tool.”

Funded Dec 18, 2009On behalf of my students and myself, I would like to thank you. Most definitely, because of your generosity, my students have been given the opportunity to connect to history in a unique and powerful way.
The video camera that you have funded has enabled my students to create their own videos. They have been working on a number of projects, but the one that has been their most rewarding has been the creation of a black and white silent film about the Progressive Era. After studying key individuals and movements in class, my students selected one they would like to create a film about. Each group made a three minute video about one of the social problems facing America during this time, such as child labor, lack of woman's suffrage and inadequate child care for working immigrant families. They created a storyboard and then filmed the action. We combined all of the shorter films into one, linking them through a series of quotes, and created "When Actions Spoke Louder than Words".
The creation of this video has been a highlight for my students. It was a terrific project- both historical and creative. The video camera has been put to good use.”

Funded Nov 3, 2009The difficult winter has finally ended and springtime is here! We have been using warm and sunny days to our best advantage. Your generosity has given my students exactly what I had hoped for- new found interest and excitement in history.
Since you put a camera into their hands, my students have had an awesome responsibility- they are preserving a moment in history. Their critical thinking skills are improving as they interpret what they are looking at before deciding to press the shutter button. They are examining our neighborhood through a different lens, both figuratively and literally.
We are comparing and contrasting places as they have existed in our area within the last 100 years. Next year is our schools' Centennial Celebration. The photographs taken by my students on the camera you provided for them will play an integral part in the festivities.
Thank you for your kind gift and for your belief in the importance of education.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kuhlman
I'll Be Seeing You
Funded Sep 21, 2009.
Many of the families that have printers cannot keep up with the cost of ink. While this is understandable, it made completing projects more difficult.
Now that there is a printer in my room that belongs to all of the students and is available for them to print their projects, I notice that they are working harder to finish their assignments. While presentation isn't as important as the quality of their work, it plays an important role in the production of outstanding completed projects. The students feel that they are presenting their best work and I have seen the quality of their assignments improve.
Your generosity has given them the chance to feel real pride in their work. Because of you, they are becoming better students.
I cannot thank you enough.
