Funded Dec 19, 2015Thank you donors so much for the chrome books! My students have been able to do so much more this year because of the them. Having the technology in my classroom has made even the youngest ones 'experts'. Having the technology in my room has increase my students skills and confidence.
Today's elementary students are asked to do many things on computers, that used to be done with paper and pencil. The expectation is high for all students. Very few of my students have much technology at home. They need more chances to learn about it and work with it. My students used the chrome books to watch, read, research, write and create. Oh yes, to take test on them!
My students are engaged, involved and constantly learning. It's privilege as their teacher to take things to the next step with this technology. Thanks you so much for helping make this happen!

Oh Give Us a Chrome...For Our ESL Class Home...
Funded Feb 11, 2015Thanks you so much for your support! Having the Chromebooks has made a big difference in our classroom. Most of my students do not have access to a computer at home. Schools are moving to more and more computer based assessment. If you are not used to manipulating technology you are not going to score well on a computer based assessment. The assessments are not about your
computer skills but if you don't have them you are at a great disadvantage.
The Chromebooks allow my students to learn how a computer works. They learn how to write on it, edit on it, and create on it. The Chromebooks have enhanced my lessons. Students are reading, writing, listening and speaking with the device as well as with each other. It has been amazing to have them available for my students!”

Funded Nov 29, 2014Thank you so much for helping our classroom get a color printer! It has truly been amazing having it. One area where it has been very helpful is in vocabulary building. Just the other day, as I was working with my 1st graders a word came up, 'peppers'. None of the children knew what they were in English, but I knew if I could show them a picture they would know what they were. I quickly printed off pictures. The impact is even greater. I have groups of student in and out of my room all day. These pictures of peppers can go up and other students will add to their vocabulary as well.
One of the strategies I have used for a unit is to start with vocabulary /content pictures. Students usually work in pairs or triads, discussing and or writing down their observations. I have also started making what I call conversation cards. With these cards, I have questions on the back of the pictures. Again the students would work in small groups asking and answering the questions.
It's exciting to be able to print student work in color! We have made several classroom books. Students can keep their original work, and we can use the copy for the classroom. We will be able to print and display our upcoming reports. It is exciting planning for the student projects we will be doing.
Again thank you for your generosity in funding this project. In the words of Benjamin Franklin 'Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember involve me and I learn.' Your gift is helping student be involved and learn.”
