  • Literacy for Amazing Scholars

    Funded Oct 30, 2019

    My students have completely opened their mind to reading with the materials we have received. My students run to the stools to read and come to the carpet to enjoy enriching instruction. I have noticed an extreme increase in focus when students are able to enjoy the texts they are reading in a stool. Hands shoot up, and eyes are engaged in their amazing books.

    The texts we have received are some of the students favorites! Since my students don't have access to our school library, I created a library system in my classroom with the new books we received. Students were running to my table with excitement when checking out their books! One student said "Yes!!" as he ran back to his desk to read. This was a real, heartwarming moment for me as an educator.

    My students and I are so grateful for your donation to our classroom. Students are engaged in the texts and are enjoying the new flexible seating options available to them.”

Reading is a wonderful way for students to work on their imagination skills and comprehension, however, reading isn't enjoyable for some students. Some students don't enjoy reading because they never gained the skills needed to fully understand their reading. Though this can be frustrating for the students, it is more than possible to change the way they view reading. That is where my project comes in. With a reading corner, students will be able to comfortably read their just right books silently and independently. With this available to students, they will be able to gain confidence in their abilities as well as work towards being on the proper reading level. In my classroom, we have an incentive that allows students to earn prizes when they read at great lengths. Gaining funds from this project would really be wonderful for my students because they want to be able to grow. They want to be able to have the proper resources and supplies to be successful at reading and their everyday studies. We really appreciate your support!
