After attending a librarian's conference and discussing ideas with other librarians, Maker Spaces are going to be added to our library area. The student centered Maker Spaces area will allow students to use creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and collaborative skills during participation. The students will be able to develop items using Legos, Lincoln Logs, snap circuits, Tinker Toys, Spirographs, and origami materials along with some strategy games and robotics activities. The books being purchased will give those students who struggle, a place to begin. From there, the students will be able to expand their projects. Students will use STEM skills along with art skills, strategy skills, and social skills in the Maker Spaces area, which will be available to all students during open library hours, and special library classes. The Maker Spaces will expose our students of all ages and abilities to experiences they have not encountered. They can also be used to expand the knowledge they already possess. Who knows? Using the items requested, the spark for the next Frank Lloyd Wright, Albert Einstein, Alexander Graham Bell, or Vincent Van Gogh may happen!
