Many of my students do not arrive to kindergarten with an appreciation for books or a love of reading because they do not have their own books at home. When students are comfortable with books they are more likely to be found with one in their hands which leads to great learning opportunities. I would like to utilize Pete the Cat books and materials to provide a fun and motivational way to teach foundational skills and instill an appreciation for books and ultimately a love of reading. This project would provide a means for each child to take home their very own Pete the Cat book at the end of the year.

About my class
