Thomas Edison once said, "Not everything of value in life comes from books- experience the world."
It is a mixture of both my students experience through project based learning which enables them to develop knowledge and skills by solving challenges and real world problems.
My students are highly vocal and dedicated to learning! They are confident and eager to meet their goals. If they have an opinion or an idea to bring resolve to an issue, they are all over it. They are a diverse and charismatic group with many interests of what life is like beyond the borders of the city.
The neighborhoods my students live in are rich with history and culture, but lack a strong economic foundation. The socioeconomic level in the city is below poverty level and crime is a great concern. Many students are challenged with adult issues as their families struggle to keep their heads above water.
