Digging Deep Into Biology
Funded Oct 15, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donations. It has made out classroom experience so much deeper. My students thrive on hands-on, engaging activities and that is exactly what you have been able to provide. These materials will last for months and the microscope will last for years. Students have already begun to ask lots of questions and deeper their understanding of the materials through these products.
As you know teachers are always looking to enhance the expierence of their students and this made that possible!”

Indoor Farm
Funded Jan 12, 2023On behalf of my current students and future students I would like to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. These materials will allow for my students to be able to do all sorts of experiments for many years. Since we are not able to grow plants outside due to the weather this will enable students to grow all year long. I am hoping this will also show students how they can create a garden in their own homes.
In addition to using these items in my classroom, I will also be using it with my gardening club. They idea is to grown some food indoors and then cook, bake and sell what we produce!”

Experiencing Science
Funded Jan 1, 2022My students are already using the whiteboards that are part of this grant. They are using them in a variety of ways including answering questions as a whole class. They are also using them to teach one another. They have been using them as flashcards and as ways to sort and order vocabulary words. They are also super excited about not having to use pen/paper or the computer. They enjoy having a break from how they normally communicate. In addition since my students can not move around the classroom due to COVID so they are able to use these boards to communicate with their peers all around the room.”

Up Close and Personal
Funded May 4, 2021Right away the students noticed the additions to our classroom walls. They were peppering me with questions and wanted to know all about the specimens-where do they come from? what do they eat? how did I get them? We launched into a conversation about the importance of biodiversity and how adaptations can help a species to survive. We are moving into our ecology unit and students are already discussing how they can use these additions to their independent ecology project. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom!”

Genetics for Everyone!
Funded Dec 11, 2020These materials will make the topics of genetics much more accessible to my students. Every year I teach about genetics and specifically how Mendel used pea plants in his investigations. Having these materials will make these concepts visible. I plan to use them during our lab investigations so that students can have the ability to look up close and use post it stickers to annotate.
The cladograms and evolution kit will be useful for students so that they can really see the evidence for evolution. In addition we plan to dissect the organisms-a common request!
Thank you so much!”

Organized Science
Funded Mar 19, 2020This donation has allowed me to be able to organize my science supplies in a way that will keep them clean, safe and easily accessible to my students.
My students now have the ability to obtain what they need during class without having to wait for me to get something for them. They are now much more independent and are able to access what they need when they need it. This has allowed me to have more time to work with students rather than spending my time gathering supplies and materials.
We thank you so much!”

Up Close With Science
Funded Nov 2, 2020Thank you so much for your donation. The students were excited when they saw the butterfly and leaves hanging on the wall. They are very curious students in general and love to get up close with the things I have in the room. Having these materials are protected and safe behind a strong plastic and are placed in a frame! We will be using these materials in an upcoming unit on Ecology and so students can use these materials during that time. To be more specific they will be using the materials when we get into classification!”

Seeing Science
Funded Feb 28, 2019The materials arrived yesterday and we have already started to use them since we are in the middle of our photosynthesis and cellular respiration unit. The posters are bright and have all of the vocabulary words that we have been studying. Having an additional visual is a great addition to the classroom. Students will be able to access these posters whenever they need. We will also be using them in groups as seen in the photos. I have given student sticky notes to annotate the posters to help students further understand.”

Funded Apr 20, 2018The students are so excited! When they saw the materials you could tell that they got even more excited about this project. They started to talk to one another about what needs to get done and how they are going to use the materials. They were super thankful for the support.
The next steps are for the students to sketch out the backgrounds for the play and to start to paint and draw the scenes. They have many options and we are encouraging them to be as creative as possible. We are going to watch the film as inspiration and start putting it all together!”

Greenhouse Gases Galore
Funded Sep 5, 2017Thank you for helping to get this project funded so quickly!!! I am amazed at the support from all of you, some who I don't know personally!
This project is going to be used in my science class so that students can create their own project around green house gases. Students will be investigating various gases and will be testing to see the affect on the 'Earth's temperature.' I am so relieved to not have to worry about purchasing materials to make this project a reality. Thank you so much!”
