  • Meeting Space Makeover!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Our new rugs have been such a wonderful gathering spaces for our classroom! We are thankful to be able to gather at our large, calming grey rug safely each day, while masked. We have a morning meeting each day at our rug. We reference our new calendar and change the day of the week and weather daily. We also use the rug for much of our ELA block.

Even though we have cushioned seats, many students choose to sit on our soft, comfortable rug instead, which I love, especially during our post-lunch read aloud! Students also enjoy our smaller, circular rug in our library space. They like that it offers an additional fun reading spot!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Practical Flex Seating With Storage!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

I was so beyond excited to get this project funded! We have used our storage seating every day since the first day of school. Students and adults alike agree the seats are comfortable and look great in our space. We love how easily they can be moved to fit our needs and rearranged for group work, etc. Students love picking up a seat and moving it to a table when working in a group. We haven't used the storage feature much yet. Occasionally, students will store their book inside their seat. As we enter the second half of the year, I will be encouraging students to store their materials in their seat to cut down on transition times. Thank you again!”

  • Growth Mindset Math Bulletin Board!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

The materials for this project came just in time for the start of the school year! Our growth mindset wall is a welcoming feature in our room that I can reference as kids need it. It is homey and makes my students and me smile.

Our dedicated math bulletin board has been useful when introducing new math vocabulary. It's appropriately fixed on the wall above our math manipulatives. It's nice to have a consistent spot to post new words with reference pictures for students to use when they are feeling stuck. Thank you so much for supplying us with this great spot in our room!”

  • Back to Basics!

    Funded Jul 31, 2021

I was so happy to welcome students back to in person learning this fall. During the first week of school we read "Our Class is a Family" and we reference it often. It was such a nice way to begin building community in our classroom. Students created self portraits using the multicultural crayons and markers on card stock. In fact, we're gearing up to do "redos" now that we have grown so much already!

The masks and tissues have been getting much use in our transition back to school. We are so thankful to have these useful supplies as well as our art supplies this year.”

  • Library Makeover!

    Funded Jul 24, 2021

Our classroom library is a thing of absolute beauty, all thanks to you! Students love perusing the shelves of labeled black bins to find their favorite reads. The organization has been so helpful for students to find just what they're looking for. Each bin is labeled by genre or series and the bins can house so many books!

The personal book boxes house students' "just right" reading books as well as other classroom workbooks and our headphones. We feel so fortunate to have such an inviting, neat space in our room.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Take Home Library: Module 3!

    Funded Apr 13, 2021

I'm so happy all 4 parts of our take-home book library were funded. Unfortunately, I'm not using the library as I originally intended because the books purchased were for second grade modules and I was moved to third grade after the projects were funded.

The great news is, all of the books that were purchased are amazing books I can still use in my classroom to review topics learned in second grade. The other really great thing that came out of this project is the ability to share texts with my coworkers teaching second grade this year.

I feel so fortunate to be able to share the gift of reading with so many students this year and it's all because of kind people like you!”

  • Beautiful Binders for Wit & Wisdom Exploration!

    Funded Jul 14, 2020

Starting this year off fully in-person, in a new grade (3rd!) has been an adventure. We kicked off our Wit & Wisdom Module 1:The Sea. Our binders have been so helpful in keeping our papers organized. My third graders were thrilled to have a binder of their very own!

Our binders are home to all the papers that we have used so far for Module 1. The greatest part about having all of the various portions of our reading curriculum in one place is that students (and I) can look back on previous lessons to make connections. Being able to organize and make connections are such great skills for students to learn. Thank you so much for helping our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

The Wobble Chairs, Seat-Upons and Ball Chairs I am requesting will help me set up alternative seating in my classroom. Not every child benefits from sitting in standard classroom chairs. Supplying my students with seating that will help them focus and stay on task is my goal. Alternative seating will provide my students with opportunities to move, or sit on the floor comfortably while learning and working. The wobble chairs will provide students with the need to move the opportunity to sway back and forth, forward and backward safely, while engaging in school work. I have used stability balls in the past and am very interested to try ones that have legs so they don't roll around the classroom while not in use. I have seen the bouncing work wonders for children who have a hard time concentrating. The seat-upons will be used at a dropped table (legs taken off) for students who feel more comfortable on the floor. I will also allow these seats to move around the room with clipboard use. I'm excited to start alternative seating in my second grade classroom. I want to provide comfort and safety to my students as they learn while moving! Thank you for helping to fund my project for my little learners. I know they will love it!
