  • To Distance Learning and Beyond!

    Funded May 8, 2021

I am so thankful and appreciative of you! The stream deck and document camera have really upped my student engagement in the virtual learning setting.

With the document camera, I am able to do things like show my students math problems step by step and help them with their assignments.

With the stream deck, I am able to get sound effects at the click of a button! I play the clapping sound effect when my students do something awesome and the crickets sound effect when I am waiting for a student to answer. They think it is hilarious! I am also able to play the birthday song when it is a student's birthday. Additionally, I am able to save links that we use often and share them with students more easily with the stream deck. The possibilities are endless and I am still exploring them!

My students and I could not be more grateful for you. Thank you so much for your generous support. I really don't have enough words to say THANK YOU!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawken

  • Teachers Can Teach Virtually Anywhere

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

You have no idea how grateful I am for your contribution to my classroom. My students are overjoyed as well! Since I teach virtually this year, I have had to find new ways to keep students engaged. Your generosity allowed me to purchase resources to keep my kids learning and engaged.

Teachers Pay Teachers is a website where teachers create and sell their resources. So in the process of supporting me, you also supported the teachers whose stores I bought from on Teachers Pay Teachers. Amazing!

One of my purchases was a Digital Rewards bundle. I use this during class to do things such as the students get to fill up a digital marble jar, build a digital snowman, build a turkey, etc. Students earn these rewards by participating during class time, having their cameras on in Zoom, and submitting excellent work. Once they fill the jar or build the seasonal/holiday item, they earn different prizes such as being able to do a lunch bunch on Zoom with me! They absolutely love getting to spend time with me and their peers outside of class time.

Another wonderful resource I purchased was the beautiful Google slides templates. I use these slides to grab my students' attention and put them in a joyful mood. They are much better than plain old, boring slides!

I also purchased the Tower of Books Challenge and Article of the Week. These resources allow my students to better develop their reading skills. These are very valuable resources in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawken

  • Classroom Cricut!

    Funded May 13, 2019

My classroom this year is so full of color and such a welcoming and warm environment. I attribute a lot of this to the fact that I now have a cricut machine that helps me to cut out letters quickly and easily. As you can see in the pictures, I cut out letters for the WOW wall and my reading, math, science, and writing bulletin boards. I also cut fun shapes like pencils for writing and a book for reading. I have also been able to use my cricut to help the other teachers on my team as well. Thank you for helping to make this possible. We are extremely grateful! My students were amazed the first time they saw the cricut and how it works. We will be using it a lot this year!”

  • For the Love of Reading

    Funded May 7, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to buy these book sets for my students. My new class LOVES to read this year. I have one girl who is so excited I have the entire Harry Potter series because her goal is to read all of them this year. I have a boy who is so fascinated by the book Hatchet. I have another student who came to 5th grade in love with the Percy Jackson series and when he found out I have the ENTIRE series, he was blown away with excitement. I also have several students who are currently reading "Out of my Mind" and they are very intrigued. Because of you, reading has come alive in my classroom and we could not be more thankful.”

  • Technology Takes Us to New Places!

    Funded May 17, 2018

You have no idea how grateful we are for the laptops and books that you provided our classroom with. We are able to do so many more things in the classroom now with this new technology! My students love using the chrome books to go on websites such as NewsELA where they can read non-fiction articles about topics that interest them such as Fortnite, kittens, coding, etc. They also use them to go on websites such as i-ready where they get individualized lessons in math and reading that meet their needs.

My students love how fast and easy the technology is to use. They go on their Google accounts and create google docs, google slides, and more. They love to type their essays on Google documents and them share them to my email so that I can read and edit them.

They also use the books a lot. At my school we have a thing called SSYRA books. This stands for Sunshine State Young Readers Award books. There are fifteen new books each year for students to read. They love having access to these books in their classroom and have read and enjoyed so many of them so far.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawken

Hi, My name is Rebecca Hawken and I am 24 years old. I graduated from the University of South Florida last May, at the age of 21. First my first year of teaching, I taught first grade and absolutely LOVED it! I had the most awesome group of students and truly became so attached to them because of how special, smart, hilarious, and caring they were. I taught fourth grade English Language Arts for the past year and am now teaching 5th grade, all subjects.
