  • Seat Sacks for Supplies

    Funded Nov 13, 2021

My students and I are LOVING these organizational seat sacks! Getting out our everyday materials now is so easy! They don't have to get up, or dig through books and other supplies in a big box- now they are fully organized with folders, and everything in its proper place!

When the materials first arrived, I told them we had been very fortunate to receive these gifts from a donor. They were so excited to be the first ones ever to use them! They got RIGHT to work emptying out their old book bins, sorting papers, and doing a much-needed overall supply clean up! These seat sacks are the perfect size to hold all our daily materials, and we are so thankful to you!

Currently, we are working on an inquiry about our cultures, and how family history influences who we are today. We have been interviewing grown ups, drawing family portraits, and are getting ready to participate in an exciting World Cafe project about some of our traditions. We are also celebrating Kindness Week, so we thought it was the perfect time to show our thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harget

  • Pots for Tots

    Funded Aug 11, 2016

My students so enjoyed using the resource of clay to make their Indian pots. We have been studying about California Indian tribes, and this was a nice fun way to finish out our unit, experimenting with making our very own pottery. Some were actually quite good!!! One of my students said, "Now we are just like the Mojave!!"

My students were very excited, jumping up and down, as I passed out the clay. They have not had many experiences to work with this sort of material, and were eager to try their hand at something new, that still connected with the learning.

Seeing the success of this project this year, I am eager to continue to enrich my students with art and extracurricular activities during next year's activities!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harget

Our students will be finishing 3rd grade social studies by studying Native American tribes of California. They will be exposed to different languages, tribal groups, and culture of the tribes through reading and group projects. To sum up their learning, and to add a bit of extra fun to the last few weeks of school, students will use clay to create pottery, modeled after traditional designs. They will be able to paint their creation and take home a memory of their learning in this unit. Our students need this experience because it is one they may not get at home or in the community. This project will be fun, as well as connect to the learning and California State Standards. We have done it in the past and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It's awesome to see their creativity at work! Thank you for picking us!
