Students LOVE technology. Technology is highly motivating. Students also learn best with a hands-on approach. Self-directed learning builds future leaders. This year my plan is to "flip" my classroom math instruction. Flipped instruction is a method that utilizes technology to motivate and minimize lecture time in class. It allows for more hands on learning in the classroom. My goal is to video tape the "lecture" part of the math concept and assign the viewing of the instruction as homework. Students will come to school with a foundation of the concept being taught in class the following day. My class time will allow the students to practice the concept viewed at home in class. I will then be able to assist where needed as well as have a front row seat to errors that are being made. My advanced students can move forward to enrichment assignments as I assist those students that need extra help. The white board will be a tool used to create the instruction videos as well as review the concepts live in class as they were done on the video. The Go-Pro will allow me to easily video tape the lessons for the students. I will also use the Go-Pro to tape students solving problems on the white board. I plan to show the students the videos of their classmates so they can identify the errors they might be making or see that success is possible for them as well. I am excited to being this new adventure with my class and watch as their motivation grows and they excel in math. I plan to further flip more subjects next year. With the correct tools I am sure this will be a HUGE success!
