• Teaching Tolerance and Classroom Community Through Literature

  Thank you so much for supplying the funds I needed to purchase books to help build a sense of community in my classroom. It's so important for students to come together as a unit so they feel like they belong to something special. This helps students feel comfortable and helps them learn more easily. These books provided so many lessons that all little people need to learn including sharing, tattling, stealing, name calling, friendship, bullying, being unique, respect, and more! I used these books to help my students learn about being good citizens and good friends. They all responded positively to the books and we had a very successful year together. I am looking forward to using these books in the coming years to establish my expectations and a community where every student feels special and that they belong. Thank you!”

• Boogying Throughout the Day!

  Thank you so much for funding my project Boogying Throughout the Day! The Boogie Boards have made a huge impact in many subject areas including Language Arts, Science, and Math. We use the boards daily to write our sight words, write math problems, make predictions during science, and more! The students love to use these "magic boards" which has really helped to boost student engagement. As one of my students recently told me, "Writing on Boogie Boards is so much more fun than writing on paper with a pencil." My students and I thank you for your support. Our classroom is really enjoying these new learning tools.”

• Wiggling While Learning!

  Thank you so much for supporting my project! Alternative seating in the classroom is almost a "must" these days. I want all of my students to be comfortable and in the best seating option for optimal learning and these choices have really helped. The wobble chairs have made a huge impact in my classroom. Students are able to move and "wiggle" while staying focused and learning. They have been especially helpful for one student who has very poor core strength. This seating option helps him use his core while learning which has helped improve his focus as well. My students love having more choices including beanbags and lap desks. The lap desks are used throughout the day for language arts centers, writers workshop, and math centers. Students also take them out during free-choice time and I have one in my new "Peace Place" an area where students can cool down and take a break if needed. • Hands-On Language Arts Centers!

  Thank you so much for supporting me, my students, and my classroom by donating to my project on DonorsChoose.org. Your donation allowed me to purchase items to support my language arts curriculum. My previous data collected showed me that my students needed more support with rhyming, CVC words, and, letter sound identification. I purchased items with your donation to help strengthen these skills. My students have really enjoyed the interactive games and activities that I purchased.
