  • Playing With the Alphabet

    Funded Sep 23, 2022

Thank you so much for helping my students learning experience, an exciting one with the alphabet learning tubs. The children become very excited when I bring out these tubs for mini lessons.

Each tub is filled with several objects that begin with that letter sound. These tubs make an abstract concept concrete for young learners. The children can see and touch these objects. When young learners use as many senses as possible, to learn, it provides a concrete foundation.

We have been using these tubs during small and large group time. Children can match the objects to the appropriate letter, as well as expand their vocabulary. An example of this is "k" for kettle. These tubs bring learning to life on a weekly basis.

I am very appreciative for everyone's generosity for helping us obtain this great learning resource.”

  • Cozy Corner

    Funded Mar 15, 2022

Thank you so much for making our wish of having a comfortable sofa and chair in our cozy corner become a reality. The blue upholstered cushions make it a warm and inviting area in our room. We are extremely grateful to all the donors that made this wish possible.

The children were so excited when the sofa and chair arrived for our cozy corner. Everyone could not wait to take a turn sitting down. The sofa and chair truly helped complete this area which is a very important component in our pre-k curriculum and classroom environment.

One example of how the new furniture helped was I had a student who was visibly upset, we sat together on the sofa and played with different fidgets side-by-side until the student 's mood changed and was able to discuss their feelings. It was nice to be able to sit by the student and help them through their feelings in a comfortable, familiar part of our classroom. I love looking over in that area and seeing a group of children socializing and looking at books. I am truly touched by everyone's generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Larson

  • Bring Pre-K Up to Speed!

    Funded Dec 21, 2019

I just want to thank you for your very generous donations! We are truly appreciative. It is so nice to have two new working laptops that can run our Pre-K Waterford program. The children love the new headphones and can hear the instructions clearly. They all want a turn on the two new laptops. The gel pads with stylus is a new addition for the children. It is nice to finally be able to write the letters and numbers when they are instructed to by the Pre-K Waterford program. By having these two new laptops we are able to rotate the children faster so that they do not miss too much of the daily classroom activities while they are on the Waterford program. I just wanted to thank you all for helping us. It is so nice to have new working computers that do not freeze or lock students out of a session. It is so nice not to be running over to fix the sound on headphones. The classroom has been running so smoothly since our two new laptops arrived!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Larson

  • Little Minds STEM Storage Unit

    Funded Oct 9, 2019

Thank you so much for our new shelf on wheels. The children were so excited when our new shelf arrived. The students helped me organize all our Stem equipment and supplies on it. It has helped us to stream line our materials and it is less cluttered then the old shelf.

The new shelf is very sturdy and is easy to move around which is very important when working with four year old children. We are able to move the shelf to clean and find lost items. My para and I are also able to move the shelf and feel confident that all the supplies inside are safe because the shelf locks.

We are very appreciative for this new shelf! It has given our classroom a nice clean uncluttered feel that it was missing. The children have taken great pride using the materials since the shelf has arrived. Thank you so much for making our classroom bright and cheery!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Larson

  • Mini Picassos

    Funded Sep 9, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students now have an easel to paint on, and supplies to paint with. My students now have a variety of tempera paint, paint brushes and water colors to experiment with at the easel. These mediums and tools are so important in expanding their creativity while strengthening their fine motor skills.

They are also having fun identifying upper and lower case letters with the letter stamps, and they love using the big stamp pads ! Thank you once again for brightening my students day and year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Larson

  • Constructing Creations

    Funded Apr 7, 2017

Thank you so much for making my students happy once again. My students love building with hollow blocks and our hollow blocks were very old and falling apart and leaving splinters in my students fingers. When our new hollow blocks arrived my students were so happy. Our new set even has new shapes that spark their interest.

My students love lining up all the hollow blocks to create a stage or bottom of a building. I also ordered simple machines which the children also enjoy using. They like to put cars and the plastic people on the crane and lift the objects up and down. The conveyor belt is another favorite during center time. The children like placing different blocks on the conveyor belt and move them at different angles by adjusting the triangular prism at the bottom of the conveyor.

I would like to see my students use the hollow blocks to build something else besides a stage or bottom of a building. I would also like to see them build something like a car garage to incorporate the elevator from the simple machines into their play. I am very appreciative for your very generous donations. The children have definitely been enjoying working together to create interesting structures!”

  • The Building Blocks of Pre-K

    Funded Apr 4, 2017

I just wanted to let you know how much my students are enjoying building with the new blocks. When the new blocks arrived the class was very excited and one of my students squealed in delight! The kids started to build amazing buildings and some of them would even incorporate the rainbow window blocks as stain glass windows. I have observed how using the different blocks enhance their problem-solving skills. The children are also using their new vocabulary words when naming the blocks as well as cooperating when building structures together.

On one of the days a group of children decided they would build a town and they were thrilled that they had road signs that they could use to tell the cars where they could and could not go. The class is really enjoying using the rainbow window blocks because we did not have these types of blocks before and it adds a new element to their scaffolding.

I would like to see the children expand on their details when building. For example when building a castle to make a flying buttress or dome. Also to come up with another way to use the rainbow windows maybe in a mathematical problem.

Once again thank you so much for enhancing my students experience and learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Larson

  • Discoveries Through Sand and Water Play

    Funded Sep 25, 2016

The sand and water table has made center and outside time exciting. When the sand and water table arrived the children were so excited. The tools ordered for the table are helping strengthen my students fine motor skills. I have overheard some very exciting conversation around the sand and water table. This new item has made even the shyest student want to socialize while exploring different textures between sand and water. I plan to also use other textures in the water tray like rice, noodles, and shredded paper to give my students different tactile experiences. I am so grateful to all the donors who made this exciting experience possible for my students. My dream would not of been possible without your generosity. Thank you so much for making my dream a reality. I am extremely appreciative!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Larson

Students develop lifelong skills through hands-on learning that occurs during play. The importance of play in a Pre-K classroom can not be underestimated. When children are at the sand and water table, they are using and developing their find motor skills. These skills help them with penmanship and self-help skills such as cutting, sewing, grasping, buttoning, zippering, and pouring. Research reports that students who have sensory issues benefit from exposure to different textures. The sand and water are therapeutic and can de-sensitize students with hypo-sensitivity. The students will be engaging in an activity that is extremely beneficial without even knowing they are doing work because they are having so much fun!
