Wow! is all my students could say when I opened up the box of Rekenreks. They had no idea what they were. BOY!!!! Were they in for a surprise. After, I handed them out, they played with them by sliding the beads back and forth. After that, it was time to teach them how to use it as a tool for mental math and counting. I cannot begin to express the joy I feel when I see them using the Rekenreks. It's been about a month, and they have become experts in looking at the pattern of the colors and sliding numbers 1 - 10 in one swoop.
In the future, I cannot wait to show them that the Rekenreks will also help them with both addition and subtraction.
We are truly grateful for your generous donation!!! Soon enough. we will be counting experts!!!!”
Thank you so much for our reading pillows! What a difference these pillows have made in my classroom. My students love being able to take these pillows anywhere in the classroom and sitting in them to read. They cannot wait until reading time to either enjoy a book by themselves or read with their friends. You'd be happy to know that not only do they like the pillows during reading time, but even when they have free choice. Many of them rush to read both big and small books. Your generous gift truly accomplished my goal of instilling a love of reading especially for those that do not have that chance in their homes. Thank you for helping us enjoy reading. You have helped foster a love reading that I know will stay with them for the rest of their lives! You truly are a phenomenal and thoughtful person for helping us!”
Hello Potential Donor! Thank you for reviewing my welcome message. I am an elementary public school teacher of 25 students in a Title 1 school in the northernmost part of Manhattan. My classroom is made up of 100% English Language Learners whose primary language is Spanish. Many come from countries outside the U.S. and are exposed to English for the very first time in my classroom. Regardless of their economic status or their language, they are eager to learn and crave both structure and a challenging curriculum. Your donation will truly make a difference in their lives. Thank you so much for your support!
