I've Got Your Number!
Funded Dec 1, 2020Our Pre-K students were ecstatic to receive the Numberbots! These little number robots transform in a way that make learning to identify numerals easy and so much fun!
When the children realized that they could switch the numeral into a robot, their eyes sparkled and they smiled from ear to ear. They children don't even know that we are learning because they just see our activities as playing.
When I hold up a Numberbot, the students find and match the same one. We collaborate on which part of it to move first to turn it into a robot. These manipulatives have been so good for their fine motor skills as they must move small parts to transform the figurine.
Identifying numerals can be boring, but not with Numberbots! The students are having a great time and staying engaged during our Zoom sessions because of people like you that have given their money to help our youngest learners flourish. You are amazing!”

Funded Dec 22, 2020During normal times, our students have multiple opportunities throughout the day for writing. While virtual teaching Pre-K, our opportunities are limited as are their attention spans on Zoom.
Having these write and wipe books and dry erase markers have given our students opportunities to write not only during Zoom sessions, but during asynchronous learning times as well. Writing can be challenging and boring for some children.
The write and wipe whiteboard books and markers have made practicing writing fun! A variety of writing materials and giving children choices make a difference. There is magic in the write and wipe whiteboard books!
Writing with dry erase markers and whiteboard books make writing attempts easier to see as some children are still working on a hand grip using a writing instrument. Using these materials give our students confidence in writing. Thank you so much for helping our youngest learners.”

Funded Dec 13, 2020Magnatiles have been the hit of the year in Pre-K. This has absolutely been our children's favorite manipulatives provided for distance learning so far! Never in a million years did I think someone would be so generous as to provide our students with these preferred materials!
The children have been so excited to learn about shapes, magnets, and building. During our Zoom sessions, they are always excited to participate in a game of shape matching, sorting, and building. Learning to identify shapes has been so much easier using these hands-on materials. Children get bored with a teacher showing a picture saying, "This is a square." By actually holding the shapes and putting them together to create structures has given them not just competence in identifying shapes, but joy in learning as well. At the end of our building time, I spotlight each child on Zoom to share what was created. Our students love telling their friends about what they created. Yesterday, we had a Barbie house, a bat cave, and a skyscraper to name a few.
Thank you so much for giving these experiences to our youngest learners. You are amazing!”

Funded Dec 10, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity in providing our Pre-K class with Playdough! During our Zoom sessions it has been a challenge to keep students engaged. With materials such as Playdough and the Alphabet Playdough Cards, our students have really become involved in wanting to learn how to create letters out of Playdough!
The looks on their faces during our Zoom sessions tell it all. They ask daily if we are going to use Playdough. You know children are enjoying learning and the materials when they ask repeatedly to use them.
After we create the letters in our name or a targeted letter, we always have a Playdough Challenge to use their imagination to create something. I love seeing their minds working and creating. They have created things such as a superhero cave, birthday cakes, pizzas, bracelets, snakes, nests with eggs, etc.. The ideas my children have are endless. Every day is a new adventure. Thank you so much for helping our students learn and grow in a fun way.”

Funded Dec 8, 2020Our students love the alphabet train puzzles you funded! Zoom is challenging with Pre-K little ones. Having hands-on materials such as this alphabet train has made our Zoom sessions much more enjoyable!
The children were so excited to receive the puzzles! Our students are a high-risk population, so many of them have few resources other that those we have provided them for virtual learning. Parents messaged me to say how grateful they were for having a fun way to help learn the alphabet. They are all so appreciative! I let them know that this was not funded by me, but by you!!!
The students have worked putting the train puzzle together as a whole group session. I show them a letter and they find it to add to the puzzle. They also work on the puzzles independently at home for asynchronous learning. No four year old finds worksheets fun, but having real materials such as a puzzle makes learning not only developmentally appropriate, but so enjoyable.
You are amazing with your generosity. Thank you so much!!!”

Funded Nov 30, 2020Music brings our Pre-K students so much joy! These instruments have made a huge impact in our class participation. We are using them for obtaining the following goals: keeping a steady beat, recognizing loud and soft, fast and slow, listening skills, rhythm, counting, and appreciating music experiences! The children love moving to music and having a virtual marching band! The smiles on their faces let me know that instruments are essential to a happy Pre-K classroom even when we are 100% virtual.
The children are learning music vocabulary and using it when describing what instrument they want to play and how they want to play it. Thank you so much for bringing music into a virtual Pre-K classroom. Without you, these experiences would not be possible. Quality experiences are what quality Pre-K is all about!”

Funded Nov 30, 2020Thank you so much for your contribution for our "Button, Button, Who's Got Your Button" project! As you know, teaching our Pre-K students has never been more challenging than this year of virtual learning. The only way we as teachers could think of making it better was by somehow getting hands-on manipulatives into the hands of our students.
By providing buttons, our students have multiple ways of learning. They are counting, sorting, creating graphs, and making patterns. The children love having things to touch and move around to help them learn. Using real objects is preferred over just using a boring worksheet. Our children learn best by using solid objects for these tasks.
You are helping our youngest learners get off to a great start! Thank you for your generosity. You are appreciated and loved for your caring and commitment!”

Funded Nov 30, 2020Our parents and students are so grateful for the blocks you so graciously provided for our virtual classroom. Trying to replicate the classroom environment is a daily challenge! By having blocks at home for our students to hold and manipulate helps them with many learning objectives.
Of course our students love to build and use their imagination! That is first and foremost. I can see the wheels turning in their brain as they decide where to place the next block. These blocks have boosted their self-esteem too because I can see how proud and pleased they are with themselves when they create a structure.
We have also been able to use them to learn sorting, counting, and creating patterns. The use of blocks has always been a staple in the Pre-K classroom.
Thank you for making this a reality in a virtual world!”

Funded Nov 30, 2020Thank you so much for your donation to our, All About Shapes project. Each child now has a geoboard, rubberbands, and pattern blocks to create shapes and designs. Having these supplies at home is making a huge impact on student learning. When children can hold shapes in their hand and feel the sides and corners, it makes a bigger impact on their understanding.
We are using these blocks to sort shapes by various attributes. We also create patterns, graphs, and original designs.
The geoboards are great for making shapes. Students are so proud of themselves when see their creations. Your generosity is truly appreciated. Thank you for being awesome!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020The Alphabet Learning Locks are a huge hit with our Pre-K students and parents! I've received so many messages on Class Dojo from parents telling me how appreciative they are for their children to receive these learning tools. One parent said her son played with the locks and keys matching capital and lowercase letters for much of the day!
I delivered gift bags with the Alphabet Learning Locks inside to the front door of their house. The children's eyes grew so big seeing me like I was a TV star! Teaching virtually challenges us in many ways to connect with our students. To see their happiness at me standing at the front door handing them your donation has filled my teaching heart. These new manipulative are helping our students learn through play and that is our goal. Thank you for being a partner in education.”
