  • Ready, Set, Code with Robots!

    Thank you for the gift of the Ozobots! My students have enjoyed seeing the coding we have practiced on the computer come to life. One of the first projects we did was a project with 3rd and 4th graders where they created a map or a maze for their Ozobot to travel through. You can see by the pictures that the students were very creative! What's hard to see is the excitement in their faces when their special code worked or when everyone ran over to see theirs because others thought it was "cool". The pictures don't let you hear the voices of excitement when they got a code they had been working on... finally work! As a teacher, I love that students seeing success of ALL of my students. These ozobots allowed for everyone to enjoy learning a skill like coding in a different way. I'm excited to continue using these ozobots in new ways with more students at my school! Thank you again for your generosity!”

Two years ago, we began a K-4 coding class using the program Scratch along with other block based programming tools. Through the year, students learn the basics of coding and created their own programs on computers. However, to give our students a deeper understanding of code and continue to challenge them, we need to take our curriculum to the next level with ever changing technology. The donation of these Dash Robots and iPads will allow students to see that coding isn't just on computer screen. Our current iPads aren't new enough in order to support new robotics technology like Dash. With these iPads, it opens up the door to adding more robotics in the future as well as using them with the Dash robots. Without this class, many of our students would never be introduced to coding or technology careers. Through code and these Dash robots, we hope to introduce these students to a world they may have never known and help them create a world we can only imagine.
