  • Scholastic News for 3rd Graders

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our project! These magazines allow the students to read and learn about current events, influential people, as well as animals all over the world. The students learn so much from these magazines and really enjoy learning about the giant world that is around them.”

  • Increased Motivation

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Thank you so much for making these incentives available me for our kids! They work so hard and sometimes feel defeated when they feel it’s for nothing! We want our students to know they are loved and we want to do whatever it takes to make them feel successful in anything they do!”

  • Traveling Through Our World In Books

    Funded Jul 7, 2016

Since the books have arrived in my classroom, my kids are so excited to learn about history, science, and themselves. The books on bullying and their own health has made a huge impact already this year. We live in an area where bullying and self hatred is very high. These books have helped my kids learn how to be better friends to one another, how to treat other people no matter what they look like, or if they have a disability. One of the books has even helped them learn about their own emotions and channel them into something else.

Science and social studies are also favorites of my kids lately. They loved learning about weather and clouds. The books really helped implement my lessons because if they could not visually think about what I was saying, they could see it in the book when I put it under the document camera.

These books are allowing my students to learn around the world around and how they need to act so it can change for the better, as well as how the world works in regards to science. For that, I am going to be forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Walsh

  • Work On Writing

    Funded Jul 13, 2016

The writing center is now a huge hit with my students! They always want to go over to the writing area, look at the dictionary to look up words, use the word wall cards we created for commonly used words, and use all of their clipboards and paper to work around the room. It has been really beneficial to have the clipboards in the classroom because my kids are able to go work with partners around the room, without having to sit at a desk, they are able to come up to the front of the room if they cannot see the board, and they are able to use them when we go outside to write about the weather.

The dictionary is wonderful because I am know able to show my kiddos how to use one and look up a word they do not know. They are also using the highlighters and pens to underline and highlight words in their writing that needs to be fixed or if they think it is wrong. I am so proud of how much they are trying with writing this year. I can't express to you how nice it is for my kiddos to try and write neatly or care about how their words are spelled.”

  • Future Bookworms

    Funded Jun 28, 2016

These new resources to help the students learn how to read have been a tremendous help already in the first 3 weeks of school. The games and books have given them another tool to help learn their letter sounds, names, and help them sound out and spell new words. It is also helping with their knowledge of sight words and remembering what they look like.

The students were super excited to get some new games in the classroom! They LOVE the pop and match game for beginning sounds. They are still learning how to play it right- but they are definitely get a lot better at figuring out which sound goes with which picture!

The bingo games are a wonderful resource to use during reading centers as well as the regular reading block, because it works on sight words, comprehension, spelling, and sounds. Right now the students love the sight word bingo because it helps them learn to remember what the word looks like!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Walsh

  • Alternative Seating

    Funded Jun 22, 2016

I can't explain how helpful these seats have been for my kids. They are working really hard but are able to move back and forth on the stability ball chairs. The stools also come in handy when I am working in small groups and instead of pulling chairs and moving things around, they fit nicely underneath my table- and are the perfect height for my kiddos! They LOVE them!!

The stability balls are great for the computer as we well as for my kiddos who need to use one at their desk. I have a few students who have mobility needs and these really help keep them in one spot. They are also really good for those who want to stretch and take a small break!

The stools are an excellent tool that can be used anywhere in the classroom! Whether it is used at my kidney table, the writing area, or next to someones desk they give the kids another option to sit on rather than their chairs!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Walsh

As a teacher in a low-income part of our school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things exciting and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I care very deeply for the well being of my students. I want them to feel that they can do anything they set their minds too, and will do everything in my power to make that possible for them. When they come into my classroom I want them to feel that they are welcome and it is their space. So everything in the classroom is for them and I want the materials to reflect them and their abilities.
