  • Basic Materials To Learn With Needed

    Funded Dec 17, 2020

Since your generous donation, countless student have been positively impacted. Students that did not have notebooks, for whatever reason, were provided with the notebooks they needed to support their daily learning.

The process was simple. I sent several emails to the entire school staff. The emails read, "if your students need composition notebooks, please let me know the quantity and I will deliver them to you." The response was great and little by little the notebooks were provided to students.

My vision behind initially writing this Donors Choose request was purposeful and simple. Why should children, during these already unprecedented and pressure filled times, be burdened with not having adequate supplies to learn with? It is up to us as educators and you, as caring members of this community, to ensure that our children have what they need to be successful.

Without reservation, you came through! Thank you for your support and donation! Thank you for being here to support tomorrow's future! As the saying goes, It Takes a Village to Raise a Child."”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Lebowitz

  • STEM Lab Zoo - Mammals, Reptiles & Insects!

    Funded Nov 30, 2020

Each day, without fail, students ask about all of the living thing once found in the STEM Lab Zoo. They ask, How is Popcorn?, our corn snake, or Where is Dash?, our tortoise, or When is Zeus returning?, our leopard gecko. My response is often, soon, and reassuring the students that they are all with loving families.

With your support we are quickly approaching having the living things return to the STEM Lab Zoo. Student again, will soon have the opportunity to learn through hands-on investigation, interactions and real life observations. Students again will have the opportunity to learning about and love all living things. We are excited to, hopefully soon, have all of the living things back to our STEM Lab Zoo, living and thriving . . . well except for the mice, they get fed to the snakes.

Thank you for your support and funding. With your contribution, the STEM Lab Zoo is ready and waiting. All of the habitats are setup, ready for the return of Popcorn, Dash, Zeus and all of the living things.”

  • STEM Lab Zoo

    Funded Dec 19, 2019

In my 20 years as an educator, I have derived that one of the challenges that students face in learning is having a lack of prior knowledge and prior experiences. My Science Lab offers the students a unique opportunity to learn through hands-on investigation and real life observations, therefore developing those experiences and obtaining the knowledge that is needed to thrive towards higher education.

With your support, the STEM Lab Zoo will continue to thrive, provide students with a unique learning environment, and help students grow as life-long learners. The resources you funded are being used for the care of the animals and insects. The students love seeing one of the mice we breed get fed to one of the snakes. The students love to see one of the Dubia Roaches we breed get fed to the bearded dragon. The students love to see one of the crickets we breed get fed to the tarantula.

My students will continue to have the opportunity to learn through hands-on investigation and observations. Because of your support student will continue to have the opportunity to learn about life cycle, food chain, reproduction, survival, environment, habitat, care, senses . . . just to name a few by observing and interacting with live animals and insects.”

Our school is beginning its S.T.R.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Program in the 2016-2017 school year. I will be teaching the S.T.E.M. Program component of S.T.R.E.A.M. My plan is to teach through hands-on investigation, exploration, and trial and error. I believe that knowledge is power and if children, at an early age, are exposed to Science and Technology, they will thrive and be prosperous. With your help, I would love to implement a horticulture program for the students of our school. The students will operate the requested greenhouse and will learn about planting and farming through instruction and exploration.
