I am an 8th grade math and virtual enterprise teacher in Harlem. This cause is to help raise funds to purchase Chromebooks for an entrepreneurial program we are piloting.
Virtual Enterprise is an in-school, live, global business simulation that offers students a competitive edge through project-based, collaborative learning and the development of 21st-century skills in entrepreneurship, global business, problem-solving, communication, personal finance, and technology.
Students engage in various business activities throughout the year that create authentic extended learning opportunities. National and international trade shows, local and national business plan competitions, and the Global Business Challenge are all key components of the VE program.
A prerequisite for the program is access to technology something that my school lacks. Hence, I am coming to you, the public, for support. The Chromebooks will be used by the various business departments (finance and accounting, marketing, administration, human resources, graphic design) embedded in the program to complete assignments and compete in tradeshows. The program replicates an apprenticeship approach to developing skills needed for access into the modern economy; technology skills deficient in most urban inner-city schools.
As the tradeshows and required projects for the program are time-sensitive, I am requesting your immediate support. Your contributions will be extremely helpful in attaining the goal of this cause and it will make a huge difference.
