I once worked for a school that took me on a trip to the Ron Clark Academy where I was able to experience a level of learning that I could only dream of! The kids were excited to be there and to show off their school through demonstrations of songs, chants, and cheers. I used this method at my former school and it truly works! I want to take my new class to this next level of learning. These drums will help my students in so many ways. Those students who struggle to pay attention due to ADHD thrive in classrooms that keep them moving all day. Drums help keep a steady beat throughout the lessons and kids sway to the music or nod their heads while working and participating in class. It also helps with classroom management for all students as the drums are used for call and response beats. It also helps to teach responsibility as I will require responsible students to play the drum throughout the day. Music in the classroom is beneficial to learning as I often play background music for my students and they really open up during these times by working hard and staying on topic. Organization is key to learning. In our classroom we have very small cubbies that big 4th grade students use to store their book bags and lunch boxes as well as extra school supplies. Their desks have storage but trying to keep all their materials organized and ready to use during our swift transitions is a challenge. These chairback covers will help my students to transition quickly from subject to subject by providing extra space for strategic organization.
