These materials will help students to draw real-life connections to science and engineering in the world around them. Many kids can remember facts and vocabulary but without inquiry, wondering, and research cannot connect what they are learning to the world around them. This literature will be a stepping stone to bridging that gap. Students need to be able to read and research in order to develop ideas and think, argue, and write about a topic. This is important to engaging in critical thinking and argumentation in the classroom. It will help them to develop background knowledge about the subjects for which they will be doing projects and coming up with ideas for.
