Organized and Efficient Learning Space
Funded Dec 15, 2022The resources we received have had a positive impact on our classroom! The staff has increased access to frequently needed materials. The students were so excited to see the packages delivered and had so much fun opening them! The students have enjoyed using the new globe and exploring the world with interactive videos. During our social studies and reading lessons, they run to get the globe and find the area we are discussing to find more about it. It's often selected as a free choice item as well. The many new items for self-regulation and reward are used daily such as the sensory bins, timers, squishies, and busy-boards. Our classroom is well-equipped with many new items that students are still discovering and exploring.”

This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and 23 other donors.Refrigerator Needed for Weekly Cooking Activities
Funded Aug 11, 2018Thank you for the donations that funded our classroom refrigerator. With a refrigerator in our room we do not have to spend our cooking time traveling to the basement teacher's lounge to get our ingredients. There is also less food waste because we are now able to keep staple cooking items like milk, butter, and cheese in our refrigerator and save leftovers to be enjoyed another day. It is also an added bonus that on these hot days without air conditioning, we can keep water cold to cool off the students. Thank you again for your generosity that allows our program to grow.”

Inviting Calm Down Corner
Funded Aug 3, 2018I can't describe the excitement when the boxes arrived and the students unloaded their new calm down corner items. They were squealing with delight at the sofa and large pillow. They took ownership of the new couch, moving it to the corner and arraigning the furniture as they wanted it to be. The calm down corner is used for instructional time, a place to de-escalate and self-regulate before returning to an activity, an area for students to socialize and play social skills games, a quiet place to complete independent work and a place where they can spend their well deserved free choice time. The area is cleaned and organized carefully each day. The students enjoy arraigning the pillows on the relaxing couch to suit their comfort level or laying on the floor to build puzzles. This updated area is proving to be another success in our classroom. Thank you again for your generosity and making this project happen!”

More Than a Label - Autism Doesn't Define Us.
Funded Dec 17, 2017Thank you for the generous donations. The look on the students' faces when they opened the boxes was priceless! They squealed with joy. My students use the new headphones everyday with no more worry about them chewing on the wires. They demonstrate responsibility and independence when they remember to charge them every day before leaving for home. The social skills games have been very useful and are used weekly during social skills instruction. Students are learning role playing, turn taking, problem solving, self-regulation, and more. They are now able to independently play the new social skills games without conflict. Students continue to learn about outer-space with the new books and spaceship. It might be their favorite item that they received. They are able to engage in turn-taking, sharing, and using their imagination during play - all while learning! The smiles on their faces is proof enough that generous donations, like yours, can impact a child in the most meaningful way.”

Autistic Support Classroom In Need of Sensory and Center Materials!
Funded Nov 18, 2016Thank you so much for the donations! The look on their faces as each box was opened was truly one of joy and excitement. Our Autistic Support classroom has benefited in so many ways. The bean bag chair was added to our calm down corner and is used multiple times a day. It provides students with a comfortable place to read a book, or to calm themselves independently. Students also benefit from the large assortment of Hot Dot pens and math and reading sets. The wide array of skill and ability level in the sets allows students to work at their own level. Some of my students are on a pre-k reading level while others are reading and answering questions independently. The sets allow students to self-correct as they work. My students enjoy the responsibility of being able to work independently.
I have seen an improvement in enthusiasm when it comes to word building. The letter building blocks are a great way for them to interact in a hands-on approach to learning letter sounds and improving encoding skills. My students request them!
Another favorite item from our project are the stress balls and fidget toys. Students utilize these during lessons when their bodies just want to move. They are made available to students for self-calming and soothing their anxiety. They are also utilized on a daily basis.
I can't imagine a better group of students to be recipients of your donation. Thank you again.”
