This year the students enjoyed listening to audio books through an online program but they were not able to enjoy them together. They were separated on computers listening to different stories. This helped them grow in decoding words but not in comprehension. A new listening center with headphones and read-alongs would enhance their comprehension of higher level books. This will allow a group of students to listen to the same story and discuss the book within their small group. When the story is finished they could enhance their comprehension by discussing the book with each other using the classroom taught "How to have a strong book talk" strategies.
