  • Every Kid's a Musician

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your support of music education! The rhythm sticks I use are not just helping students become proficient in reading grade-level rhythms, they are helping me create students who may be life-long music learners.

With your help, I have now completely replaced all of my old, splintery rhythm sticks with these sleek plastic sticks. Since my first batch, we've learned that the hollow shape makes a really cool "bloop" sound when you tap the end on your leg; every song now begins with the blooping sound to help us find the steady beat of the song before the rhythms begin!

Again, thank you for your support. My students and I appreciate the upgrades to our classroom equipment!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lindsey

  • A Little Louder!

    Funded Jul 2, 2021

I can't express my gratitude to friends, family, and wonderful random strangers that my project, A Little Louder, was completely funded! My original plan of buying plastic rhythm sticks was scrapped due to unavailability, but I'm so happy with the sticks I was able to purchase! They're slim, which makes it easy for little hands to hold. An added bonus was that they're significantly quieter, which has two-fold benefits: it's easier for students to hear my louder sounds when I use my old set, making it easier for us to stay together, and my classroom neighbors appreciate our rhythm days being a little less noisy! I was also able to purchase a set of playground balls, which will be perfect in the spring when I start lessons on keeping a steady beat. It's way more fun to bounce a ball to a steady beat than it is to just clap!

I truly appreciate your generosity and kindness. On behalf of five hundred very happy kids, thank you very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lindsey

In the 20-21 school year, I discovered the magic of Rhythm Play-Alongs! It's a great way to help kids track music and feel the beat while making lots of noise! We had so much fun! Unfortunately, my wooden rhythm sticks and plastic egg shakers didn't weather the fun very well, due to repeated cleaning. My sticks are warped and splintery, and the eggs leaked a black goo on our hands that may have freaked us out a little. I bought two sets of the plastic lummi sticks, and they were a huge hit! They can be easily cleaned, and they make a slightly-less sharp sound than wooden sticks (which the neighboring teachers appreciated). Sticks and shakers make great duets! Purchasing five more sets of sticks and two sets of shakers allow for a complete set at each of my schools.
