  • Makerspace Magic

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! You have given us much needed supplies for engaging and meaningful lessons and activities. We use makerspace in our classroom to develop cooperations skills, creativity, and problem solving skills. The items you have donated will be put to good use. The students will use the paper, and other art supplies to complete STEM activities. They will problem solve, use trial and error, and creativity to create and build. One upcoming example is that they will use the supplies to build leprechaun traps on St. Patrick's Day! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Herden

  • Hooked On Phonics!

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

Your generous donation has made a huge impact in our classroom, especially this year during the pandemic. The ready made phonics activities are perfect for the students to work on their own, in their own space. And when we have had virtual learning days, I am able to send the activities home with the students for much needed practice. The activities are fun and engaging. The students love them, and I also love them because it means less work for me to prepare. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

  • Social Distancing Spectacular!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

This has been an incredibly challenging and unique year. I have had to change so many of my classroom practices. Each decision is primarily based on the health and safety of my students.

Your gift has allowed a fun and special way to help keep our students safe! They love the individual boxes to keep their math and reading manipulatives. We don't have to share supplies, or germs! The students get very excited when I tell them to get their "tool boxes" which is what we call them.

The yoga mats are a special treat! This allows them to stretch and move in their own space while staying socially distanced.

All of our donated items have benefited our health, safety, and happiness!”

  • Reading is the Foundation!

    Funded Nov 26, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous gift of books for our first grade class! This year, we have been following an outstanding new language arts curriculum. It requires a new book each week that is used to teach our weekly standards. The books are interesting, engaging, and great pieces of literature. I did not own any of them before your generous gift of all the books for the entire year! Now I have what I need to teach our ELA standards in a meaningful and engaging way. The students are so excited to read these new books, and I'm excited about having this valuable classroom resource!”

  • Comfy Carpet Time

    Funded Nov 26, 2018

We are so very appreciative of your generosity! As first graders, my students need a space to sit, move around, play games and much more. This new carpet will offer so much to my students! They each have their very own space, which they decided to call their house! They were so excited to join their friends during "carpet time!" The colorful carpet will also be useful when I want to divide the class into groups, line up by color, or reinforcing skills like area, perimeter, and geometry. Words can't express out thankfulness!”

  • Good Health for Best Learning

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I was so excited to have this project funded. The impact of the supplies has been huge! I have always believed that when children are hydrated and have opportunities for ample movement, they are more engaged and ready to learn. The water cooler is a fabulous addition to our classroom. My first graders love getting drinks throughout the day, and the novelty of it encourages them to drink more than they usually would. They also love to keep track of their steps using the pedometers. We use the data for math lessons, and it's fun to watch them try to beat themselves and others with their number steps. I can't thank you enough for your donations!”

  • Help My First Graders Show Their Creativity!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

It has been awesome to receive and use all of the art supplies funded by my donors choose project! I was able to order so many things that I do not normally get to have in my classroom. We now have dot markers, lots of different kinds of paint brushes, unique colors of construction paper, googly eyes, etc. Having these new and interesting supplies has really sparked my students' creativity! We also received canvases, and the children were able to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind art masterpieces. They are so proud of their creations! I can't thank you enough!”

  • First Graders Love STEM!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

Thank you so much for generously giving to our first grade class! Your donations helped me to purchase some very engaging STEM resources. The experiences you have given them are priceless.

One of the biggest purchases was the Bee Bot programmable robot. The students are using basic programming skills to make the Bee Bot do tasks. They love the challenge! There is a lot of trail and error as they work in small groups to problem solve. They have built mazes for the Bee Bot to navigate. They have even used the Bee Bot to practice sight words, by programming him to find letters to spell a word. The possibilities are endless, and so is their excitement.

Another favorite resource is the STEM activity "Building a Chain Reaction." This is another activity where the students have to work in small groups, and use problem solving skills. They are building tracks for a small ball, and they are trying to get the ball to reach the goal. I can really see their engineering wheels turning as they adjust and modify their creations. This has been especially beneficial for some of my more timid and quiet students. It has helped them build confidence and take on some leadership roles within the small groups. They are learning to share their ideas!

All of the resources that you provided with your generosity have added a new level of excitement for learning for my first graders. Their faces light up when we bring these new activities out. They are engaged and on task, and I am so thankful that I get to see it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Herden

The Bee-Bot is a new an exciting piece of technology. It uses basic coding exercises to promote engagement and learning. It can be used in many ways, all across the curriculum. (I have already made an entire Pinterest board of Bee-Bot ideas!) One fun example is a maze I have designed to practice sight words. The students will program the Bee-Bot to find the correct spelling in the maze. How fun! The Bee-Bot bundle also includes many motivational STEM activities. They cover many first grade learning standards, as well as encourage future careers in STEM. My kiddos will be so excited to add this to our classroom. They need the challenge and excitement of this new piece of technology.
