Preparing AP Biology Students for Success in the 21st Century!
Funded Jun 28, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. Because of you, my students are able to not only have AP Biology textbooks to use at home, but they have some at school as well for daily use. Having access to a textbook both at home and in school is essential in an Advanced Placement class. Some of my students walk to school; some take the bus. Because they have books to use at school, they do not have to worry about lugging them around in the book bag on a regular basis. This AP Biology course would not be possible without these textbooks. This year, my students will learn about biodiversity, evolution, cellular and molecular processes, and biological interactions.
I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your contribution to my project. You have given me the ability to provide my students with unlimited opportunity, not only in my classroom but in their futures as well.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tyndall
This classroom project was brought to life by Tom's of Maine and 5 other donors.Making My Class the Place to Be!
Funded Dec 31, 2016To say that you have made an incredible impact on my students is an understatement. One of the main reasons I started this particular project was because of a lack of funding for an elective science course, Anatomy & Physiology. Though it is not part of a pathway, I feel that it is important to expose students to as many career paths as possible. The best exposure they can get through A & P is completing dissections. Originally, I would have had to most likely pay out of pocket for some or all of the materials. Because of you, I didn't have to do that.
In addition, I was able to obtain all the necessary materials for clean-up, like disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer. I was also able to order enough gloves, in various sizes, for the rest of the dissections this year and probably into the next year! The rest of the supplies, like dry erase markers, whiteboards, and other classroom necessities, like tissues, mean that I can focus on planning and preparation instead of worrying about how I will be able to get what I need.
The students were beyond thrilled when they saw the materials. A few told me while we were dissecting the minks that this was the "coolest thing they had done in all of high school." Those statements came mostly from seniors! You have given them the opportunity to think outside of the world they currently live in and be exposed to things they normally wouldn't be. My plan for them for the rest of the year is to complete the other two dissections, sheep heart and sheep eye, both of which wouldn't have been possible without your generosity.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all you have done for my classroom, my students, and me. You have fueled my passion for teaching even further, and I hope one day to be able to pay your kindness forward.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tyndall
