  • Reaffirming Student Identity with MRS Strategies in the Music Classroom

    Funded Jun 14, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project for my students. During small group we have been able to utilize our new materials to tackle "HOT" questions and close the gaps in learning. Music is a universal language that builds a bridge of similarity and understanding across the world.

My students have been able to research different musicians, instruments and composers that have influenced the very music they listen to today. It's been such a joy to watch them grow, learn and explore the wonderful world of music though the use of MRS strategies.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McDuell

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. My students and I are truly grateful. Since receiving our materials, they have been used every day. Having a cricut has really helped my students become more creative with projects and group work. We will be having our Black History Program soon. • Quaver Music, Kodaly and Recorders!

    Funded Feb 19, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations to this project. Your generosity has helped my students learn about instruments that they were always interested in but never had the opportunity to explore. Currently 1st through 5th grade are learning music theory in order to read music to play recorder, piano and violin.

My 2nd and 3rd graders are focusing on recorder for our upcoming Winter Program. When my students first saw the instruments, they couldn't stop talking about them. The excitement could be heard up and down the hallways of the first floor of the school.

Our next steps with the instruments are to create a project-based learning assignment where each student will get hands on experience through research on recorder as well as other instruments. I am excited to facilitate this for them and see just how well they develop from this experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McDuell

  • Exploring New Instruments at Roosevelt

    Funded Nov 5, 2018

Thank you so much for funding my classroom project. The instruments have been a great help to our music classroom and program here at Roosevelt. The students are now being introduced to the instrument families and strings are one of their favorites. Each grade level has been able to completely identify all parts of a guitar as well as a violin with the hand on learning of having the instrument in the classroom. My goal is to hopefully be honored with another project where the school can possibly have a classroom set so each student may have their own instrument.”

    With gratitude,

I have officially completed my 4th year as a teacher of record although I've been in the district almost 10 years now. This year went so quickly and like a sponge I did my best to absorb as much information as possible. I am now taking time to reflect and journal on how I can make next year 10 times better for my new kiddos! "It takes a special person to light that fire, to raise our children's expectations for themselves and never give up on them, no matter how challenging it might be. All of us are here because, at some point, a teacher did that for us." -Nancy Soto
