3Ducation at Meister Pt. 2
Funded Dec 31, 2023Thank you so much for choosing to help fund this project for my classroom! With the big push in technology, computer science, and STEM education in general, I am hoping that having our own 3D printer in our classroom will raise interest and excitement in those areas. We will dive into some basic coding, hardware vs software, and basic digital design with this printer. Plus, each student will get his/her own unique print.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Mathews

MakerSpace Origami Corner
Funded May 29, 2016I want to thank you all again for choosing my project to make a donation. Since our Maker Space is still so new, having new and exciting materials and stations for the students to choose from makes all the difference. Along with the rise in interest in Japanese comic books, also called manga, having an assortment of origami materials has really caught the attention of our middle school students.
Origami is not something that comes easily or naturally to someone who has never done it. You can see the frustration in the students as they attempt to fold their first piece, which almost certainly will not turn out right. Interestingly, it seems to be an activity that students enjoy trying, even if they did not succeed their first try. The challenge is part of the fun, and watching them persevere and ultimately fold something successfully is really rewarding as an educator. Origami is the kind of activity we try to provide in our everyday lessons, ones that are both engaging and challenging, and build grit and determination as they learn. Having this station among the others is invaluable.
We want the Maker Space to be a place for students to escape the regular routine of their school day to come explore, experiment, and have fun while learning. We continue to add new critical thinking games, engineering activities, science experiments, etc. As it grows and develops, I know that the origami station will continue to be popular. We know that students learn best when they are engaged and having fun, and your donation to our school has provided an extra opportunity to do just that.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Mathews
