We are in desperate need of a rug for our carpet time area. We have been using those rubber mats that link together, mainly because they're cheap. However we have found that they do not come clean very well, we even tried to pressure wash them. When we removed them to sweep and clean we found that they mold and mildew on the bottoms causing an awful odor. I think we can all agree that mold and mildew is not healthy. When we began looking into a classroom rug we were both shocked and disappointed that they were nearly $500. Our small community has recently been hit hard with a lot of job loss including coal mines and steel mills. Our school funding has taken a major hit as well without the revenue from these businesses. As educators we use a lot of our own money thru-out the school year for classroom resources, snacks, and special needs our students may have. This carpet is desperately needed and would be a great addition to our kindergarten room. Every morning we start the day with "carpet time", the kids listen to a story, sing a few songs and review what they know and will be taught for the day. Also, our students use carpet time to utilize the smart board in our room. We know we are fortunate to have such wonderful technology in our classroom and try to incorporate as much as possible. Students spend an extended amount of time in this area making it very difficult for our kindergarten students to sit on the cold concrete floor without a carpet. Your help is greatly appreciated.
