  • Read and Share a Book with Our Outdoor Reading Spot

    Funded Apr 4, 2024

Read and Share a Book with Our Outdoor Reading Spot has really made an impact not only in our school but the community as well. In April, our student council got busy with our newly funded project. We painted the free little library, made a post to put it on, cut shrubs and weeds around the area, painted benches, and the fun part stocked to library with all our favorite books. It was so awesome listening to the kids talk to each other about how they were going to bring their families back to sit and read books.

We had a ribbon cutting ceremony to announce the opening of the library. We invited the county commissioner and he spoke to the students about the library and how he was so excited for the community to use the library. That day a couple families visited the library and read books with their kids and the neat part is they would take a book but always left a book for other families.

On summer break I would visit the library to make sure it was well stocked and found myself sitting a reading some of the new books that families had brought from their homes. I believe this project has taught families that it is free and a good time to sit and share a book together. Thank you to the donors that made this project possible!”

    With gratitude,

  • Recycling to Make Our School a Better Place!

    Funded Oct 21, 2016

The student council at Glenwood School has benefited greatly from the recycling bins. The students are able to collect the items every week and get them to our local recycling center. It has taught the students the true importance of recycling and the benefits. We had the manager of the recycling center discuss with the students the benefits of recycling. The students have taken this very serious and LOVE the recycling bins!!! This is a life experience that I truly think the students will never forget. Because of your generous donation you helped change the life of many students. Thank You!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. French

This classroom project was brought to life by Tom's of Maine and 3 other donors.
Our student council wants to start a recycling project at our school. The students are allowed to have plastic water bottles thru the day. The student council wants to use the bins to recycle the water bottles. They will empty the bins once a week. The students will make arrangements to have the collected bottles picked up for proper recycling. This is a very exciting service project for our students council. The students need the three recycling containers to get started on their project. The start of this project will help the students have a better understanding of the importance of recycling.
