  • Goosebumps for Second Graders

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

Thank you for your generous donation toward my project. Unfortunately the supplier was out of the book I had requested. This turned into a little bit of good fortune for my class. Instead I received several really good books on CDs for our listening center. Now my students will have the ability to get lost in a book, such as The Magic Tree House, and really develop a love of reading.

I have just started using our reading center and let me tell you, it is a tremendous hit with my class.

    You are the BEST!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fuller

  • Post-It Notes Needed

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

OMG! What fun it is to receive so many post-it notes. The post-it notes arrived and my class went wild. They are in all different shapes and colors.

Currently we are using the post-it notes in order to record our notes while reading Clark the Shark. Children really hang on your every word when they know that they will be able to write on a post-it note.

Another benefit is that post-it notes are small and less intimating than a large piece of paper. My struggling writers feel comfortable writing on them.

    You are the BEST!”

  • Folders, Labels, Clips Oh My!

    Funded Jun 19, 2019

Thank you for the ability to color code my students work. It is making it extremely easy, especially for my non English speaking students, to follow directions and continue to work with the entire class.

Currently, we are using the blue, red and green folders for our writing process. The children are in love with the oversized, colored paperclips. Suddenly, we all have a need to use them. Even from my point of view they are kind of cool.

The folders, labels and clips are just what an organized student and class need.

    You are the BEST!”

  • Second Graders Need Binders and Dividers For Personal Tracking!

    Funded Jul 27, 2019

It is almost comical how excited my children are to be using their own binders to store their information. As an adult, I would be worried about keeping track, but children are so wonderful. They adore the idea that they will be in control of their own learning. They will now have the tools of succeeding all in a handy dandy little binder.

Our assessments are about to begin this week and everyone is looking forward to placing their first piece of data into the binder. I am so happy they will have an honest to goodness way to work on what they need, not just as a whole class.

    You are the BEST!”

  • It Would Be Great To Laminate

    Funded May 27, 2019

Thank you so very much for the gift of laminated material. My students are now in the process of laminating their final writing piece about what they are looking forward to in third grade.

I love the thought that someday, when they are adults, they will come across this piece of work and remember their experience in second grade. I know I cherish my memories of my school experience when I was young.

The laminating machine will last for years which is thrilling since we now have a new reading program and I will be able to save future materials.

    You are the BEST!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fuller

  • A Painting Is Worth A Thousand Words

    Funded May 16, 2019

The canvases have arrived! My students are besides themselves with the excitement of painting their favorite character.

I truly love when it is possible to do an art project that connects to reading. It seems it is the only time I really see a struggling reader engaged. Suddenly they will ask for words, sentence and simply put help.

We are planning on putting a display of our awesome work in the hallway. Our goal is to inspire other students into reading our fantastic books. Maybe they will be able to express themselves artistically.

    You are the BEST!”

  • Our Microsoft Surface Pro Needs A Cover

    Funded May 13, 2019

The impact on my students has been immeasurable. First, my little struggling readers got the opportunity to practice their sight words. I have to say, give a child a computer and you have instant engagement.

Then I was able to offer the computer to children who are designing their own game boards. The creativity I witnessed was enough to give me chills. I love watching my children soar and reach for the stars.

I have big plans on using the computer to have my students write a summer newsletter to their parents.

    You are the BEST!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fuller

  • A Snack A Day Keeps The Hunger Away!

    Funded Apr 2, 2019

Thank you once again for the fabulous snacks for my students. Everyone was thrilled beyond belief that we could enjoy our favorite treats. Goldfish crackers are a class favorite. Interestingly several of my students feel in love with beef jerky. I love being able to have my class try different foods.

We are saving the fruit snacks for our class trip. We are going to see the movies Dumbo.

Food is truly what makes our children learn. Hearing grumbling stomachs never helped with attention.

    You are the BEST”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fuller

  • We Need a Microsoft Surface Pro

    Funded Feb 27, 2019

Thank you so very much for the generous gift of a Microsoft Surface Pro. The first day the computer arrived was very thrilling for my students. As far as they were concerned we were back in the business of learning. I have been surrounded by children every day just waiting for the opportunity to use the Microsoft Surface Pro. My younger students have been practicing letter formation with a smile on their faces.

Technology has a real place in education. It truly engages the student and makes them really think and learn.

    You are the BEST!”

  • Karaoke Microphones For Fluency!

    Funded Mar 6, 2019

Thank you for the wonderful gift of fluency. At the moment we are still experiencing the thrill of using these great microphones. All my students are in love with speaking into the mic and having the whole class hear them clearly. Honestly, I am feeling like a game show host but I have to admit all my children are totally engaged.

Currently we are working on taping our reading using the microphones. Its amazing how many children now want to read a book if they get to talk into the mic.

    You are the BEST!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fuller

My students are desperate to be able to use a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 to add a little art to our literacy. The Surface Pro is like a chameleon. It can change into whatever my students need during any reading lesson. Versatility wins the day when teaching children to read and write. We want to write and create fascinating stories that can be animated and preserved on a computer. Imagine the glow of pride when my students not only write, but also produce short stories and plays on a computer. Then they can take their work to the next level and actually perform their original work on stage for the school. The adjustments that might be necessary would be seamless when it is just a click of a key on the computer. Thank you for your consideration.
