I am so thrilled to share that my project has been fully funded, thanks to your incredible generosity. Your support has been instrumental in bringing my vision to life, and I could not have done it without you. I look forward to updating you on the impact of your contribution.”

  • Let's Foster a Love for Reading!

    Funded Jun 7, 2022

We have used the books that you donated to our class in so many ways. Students are so interested in the Dog Man, Jack Books, My Weird School Daze series and more, that they have chosen them to practice important skills in reading. In class, students use these books to identify story elements such as problem and resolution, setting and characters. They practice identifying character traits with these familiar characters as well as tracking how characters change throughout the books and series.

Students in my class read in a variety of ways throughout the day. Many choose to read these books that were so generously donated to us during their free time. During our reading block, students read these books independently as well as with partners. As mentioned above, they choose them to practice skills. It's so much more fun to practice what you learned using books that are engaging!

These books have been especially important for the reluctant readers in my class. They come in a wide range of reading levels. This means that there are high-interest books that look like "big kid chapter books" but are accessible to struggling readers.

I truly cannot express how impactful this book donation has been to my class. I hope that you know that you and your generous donations have made a huge difference in my students' education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Abrego

I am a 3rd grade ELL teacher in a highly diverse, low-income area, Title I school. I co-teach with three third grade classroom teachers supporting the students with language development and vocabulary. I also teach small reading groups of ELL students throughout my day, as well as provide direct English instruction for students whom have recently immigrated to the United States . My students come from many different countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Vietnam, Peru, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras. My students are acquiring English language skills and often enter school brand new from another country with very little to no English. My students are eager to learn and every day I do my best to give them the education they deserve.
