    Funded Jan 10, 2025

Thank you for your generous support. Your contribution is helping us provide a rich and diverse selection of books to elementary students, fostering an environment where young minds can engage with a variety of cultures, experiences, and perspectives.

Thanks to your kindness, we are able to create a space where every child can see themselves reflected in the stories they read while also expanding their understanding of the world. Your investment in this project will have a lasting impact, nurturing empathy, inclusivity, and a love of reading for years to come.

  • Kindergarten Kickoff Kit

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

On behalf of Jefferson Teachers, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous support of our Kick-Off Kits for Kindergarteners project. Thanks to your contribution, we were able to provide essential books, learning materials, and school supplies to young learners starting their educational journey during an unprecedented time.

As the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted traditional classroom learning, many families faced significant challenges in adapting to virtual instruction. For our youngest students—many of whom were experiencing their first year of formal education—this transition was especially daunting. Your support made it possible to equip these children with carefully curated kits that not only provided critical learning tools but also fostered a sense of excitement and readiness for learning at home.

Because of your generosity, [number] Kindergarteners received personalized kits containing age-appropriate books, hands-on activities, and supplies designed to spark creativity and engagement during their Zoom classes. These kits served as a bridge, helping to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, could begin their school year with confidence and enthusiasm.

The positive feedback from both parents and teachers has been overwhelming. One parent shared, "The kit was a lifesaver! It gave my child the tools she needed to stay engaged and feel like she was part of a real classroom, even while learning at home."

Your support is a reminder that even in challenging times, our community comes together to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. We are incredibly grateful for your partnership in this important work. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of our youngest learners.

Thank you once again for your generosity and commitment to education. We look forward to keeping you updated on the continued progress of this initiative and hope you will remain a valued part of our community.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Leavitt

  • Imagination Station Engineering Center

    Funded Oct 10, 2016

Our Imagination Station was always packed this year as an option during Free Choice time. Students came up with ideas, drew their plans, and then had the freedom to build, create and improve their vision. This was by far the most popular station, as students had the freedom to CREATE and use their imagination. They are always fully engaged, busy, motivated, and EXCITED to build. Students have access to all the materials and support each other in bringing their vision to life.

These pictures are from my favorite project supported through exploration at the Imagination Station. Students became environmental scientists and built a model of the habitat they learned about. Their model showed the interconnectivity of living things in that habitat. They presented to developers about why they should not build in that area and disrupt the balance of living things. They were SO proud of their models and the learning they were able to show and share with friends and families.

THANK YOU for bringing this project to life for so many Kindergartners!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Leavitt

Children need an opportunity to create and build! An Engineering Center would perfectly compliment our design and engineering curriculum that is implemented throughout the year. Through literacy, math and science connections, we always have a need for children to build and engage in the Design Cycle independently. At the "Imagination Station" children have the opportunity to pursue their ideas by planning, creating and improving models of their thinking. Each unit has an engineering component and it would be so beneficial to have a permanent work space where children can independently access materials to help their ideas take form! We need a table and seat cushions that facilitate construction, access to materials, and collaboration. We need a shelf that allows student to view and easily access a variety of construction materials. Right now I have a giant cardboard box labelled "Imagination Station" that I pull down off the shelf everyday and place on student desks. It is the most popular choice center and we desperately need a space and storage boxes that reflect the passion they have for engineering! Here is one way we integrate our "Imagination Station". We start off the year with our unit on Rights and Responsibilities in our community. As our engineering component, we study form and function. After looking at how everyday items have been strategically designed by an engineer to perform their function, students are encouraged to imagine, plan and create tools that we can use in our community (classroom, home, garden or neighborhood) to make our responsibilities easier. This provides an authentic context for them to imagine and create practical solutions to an everyday problem. They are empowered to take action and be engineers! Let's make this Imagination Station come to life!
