My students often come from economically challenged families and often with parents who are dealing with many risk factors themselves. My students are often dealing with many life challenges and having success in school is the lifeline that may very well be the one positive aspect of life for them. Having engaging lessons and technology in the special education classroom helps them to engage in learning. Helping students that have special needs learn how to type can be a life saver for them. Many of the students have communication difficulties and technology can be a great way for them to learn to communicate effectively with their peers, educators and future employers. Many of my students have not had success in education and I would like to turn that around for them. Helping create a positive and engaging classroom for them provides a place where they can be successful.
