The reason behind this request stems from the feedback I received from some students in a higher grade after we completed their projects. During their project, the excitement that I witnessed was very fulfilling to me as a teacher, and the parental feedback was even more satisfying.
Given that the only recording device we have was the iPad and our space was in the classroom and hallways, the quality of the sound/audio effects was not the best, which lead to a large percentage of my students feeling disappointed at the final output of their projects. When they were presenting their movies to the class, I overheard a group saying “it would be nice to have a camera to record with the next time instead of the iPad.” After hearing this, I began to wonder how many students in my other classes felt that way. I made it a point to ask, and to my surprise, many of them expressed the same desire. With this knowledge, I decided that I will do everything in my power to make their wishes come true.
To avoid this problem from occurring in our future multimedia assignments this year and in the years to come, I am creating this project with the high hopes that my students, our future film writers, and directors, will be funded to receive a Video Camera and Microphones, to enable them to create the most professional videos, which will eventually, help to eliminate those feelings of disappointments, and most importantly to help them establish a career they might be considering in their futures.
