Many Must Haves Students Need but Don't Have
Funded Aug 25, 2016Let me start by saying "Thank You" for all of the wonderful things that you graciously provided for my class and students. I teach at least 65 kids each year and I am a Math teacher. This year, I decided to incorporate reading a few books to them throughout the school year. I am a little late sending my letter because I wanted to wait until we finished reading the "Christmas Genie" book prior to sending this letter. We spent the entire month of December reading the book and every student tested on the book. Their understanding and excitement from the book was terrific. They were so interested in the story. It taught them to always pick a book to read that seems to interest them. This gift from you was a great kick start to helping them learn to love reading.
The kids were in the classroom when all of the pencils and erasers were delivered first, along with the electric pencil sharpener. I immediately connected the sharpener and have used it several times DAILY since then. The kids have full access to sharpened pencils and erasers every day when they enter my room. This takes the stress and worry of not having the needed material for class. They were so grateful and still are.
When we get back from Christmas break, I plan to begin "What to do with an idea". We will test on that book and discuss it as well. My hope is to read these two books to each group of students I have every year from here on. Thank you again for everything.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Stewart

Funded May 25, 2016Dear Donor,
Let me first start off by saying "Thank You" for your generous donation to my classroom. My students were so excited to receive a big package of exciting new things to use during class. We love trying new things that make learning fun.
I have decided to use the hot dots when my students first come in the classroom. It is a good way to get their energy and thoughts flowing each morning. We use these tools and cards as a quick review from material I have already covered this year, as well as on material they learned in previous school years. Each morning, the students take about 15 minutes working in their group rotating the cards and answering the questions they have been given. They love it!
My students were so eager to get started with the hot dot pens and cards. Several of them volunteered to help put the batteries in each pen so they could begin using them faster. It almost seemed like kids on Christmas morning. They were just as excited as I was.
Thank you again for everything that you gave to the kids. I believe it will truly help with getting them ready for the fifth grade next year. I also think its a fun way to work on math skills.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Stewart
