Let me tell you how the Wobble Chairs have changed my classroom. Kids today just can't sit still. I don't think it's much different from when I was a child, but today we have a better understanding of just why it is so difficult! Before the Wobble Chairs arrived, and for the 20 years before that, I saw that when I insisted the students sit "properly" and "stop wiggling" other behaviors worsened. Today my kids can choose from different seating options in my room. They are better able to sustain focus and start work when directed and finish! Not only are their brains more fully engaged in the assignments, their bodies and brains are connected because they are moving. Many of the negative behaviors have ceased. The movements stops some, not all, of the extraneous talking and distractibility. This makes us all so much happier. The kids know that when the teacher is happy, the whole class is happy! And learning! And engaged!
