Funded Mar 16, 2021You should see the joy on the students' faces when they get to select their book from the book vending machine! The joy only continues to spread when they realize they can take the book home!
The book vending machine is being use an an incentive for students to read more and get exposure to different forms of literature. In combination with MYOn (an online library) we are tracking the number of minutes that the students are reading and rewarding them with a token for the vending machine. Student have a grade level goal for minutes read in MyOn each month. Once they attain that goal then they receive their token. This past week was the first time that students visited the vending machine and they were so thrilled!
I love to encourage reading and I cannot wait to continue to get books in the hands and homes of these wonderful students!”

Funded Sep 6, 2019The Accelerated Reader (AR) party was awesome! The kids sang and danced their hearts out! I am so proud of the students that achieved their goal and were able to participate in the party. It was such fun to watch their faces light up.
One highlight of the event was watching the teachers enjoy the fun with their students. The teachers danced and sang and the students thought that was hilarious! Most teachers had some great moves!
The students have been stopping me in the hall and asking what the next AR party will be. They all want to have a silent disco again! It was a blast. However, what I am most proud of is the kids that are eager and encouraged to read and participate. I also love that the goals are individualized so each child can achieve their potential.
Thank you for your support! I am in awe of the generosity from the Donors Choose community.”

Write Kindness!
Funded Jul 15, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for the materials to implement our Writing Kindness project. The paper and clothes pins are being used to write and display kind messages that the kids are noticing throughout the school day. Just the other day a student found a dollar in the hall and turned it in to a teacher. This kind act was witnessed by other students and written on a link to hang in the halls.
The students were excited to know that things were being donated. However, the real excitement and impact came when they began to write kind links. The kindness has spread throughout the school. These acts are being noticed by students and it sheds a positive light on acts of kindness.
The next steps are for the project to have incentives for kind acts with kindness challenges. This will encourage students to not only perform act of kindness but also notice when others are performing them.
Thank you again for your generous donation. We greatly appreciate the gesture!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Revelette
