I have a diverse bunch of students who all know that they are going to attend college after high school. Many would be the first generation in their family to attend college. Our school is located in a high poverty area. Many of the students live in neighborhoods that would be considered unsafe. Unfortunately, the issues that occur in the area make their way into the school and it is a constant battle to motivate students to stay away from the problems and focus on their future success.
