There are many ways tablets would enhance the interactivity in US History class: students could listen to interviews with Tuskeegee Airmen as preparation for a Socratic Seminar, read Barracoon and use quotes from the account as a primary source in an essay or exhibit, take virtual museum tours, and even use a selfie app to see who they most closely resemble in historical portraiture. The Android tablets would help students access online textbook features and primary/secondary sources that would otherwise be inaccessible to us in a classroom without desktops and scheduled computer lab time limited to once per week. Another portal in time would be open to students-travel back into history.
