Dear Donors,
My wish is to develop a Culture of Reading in our classroom for 2016-17. Most students coming into the classroom will be reading at least two grade levels below his/her true grade level. It is my dream to purchase numerous groups of series sets of chapter books at levels accessible to the students in the classroom. When students read books in a series they are more motivated to read. (It's like becoming a member of the family of characters.) They get to know the characters and are able to attend to the character motivation, plot, rise and fall of action etc... I want my students to be anxious to interact with the "people" in their literary families and this will cause them to read, read, read! The more they read the better readers they will become. We will develop that Culture of Reading in the Classroom and my students will close that reading gap before it becomes almost impossible.
